Apparently, even Borbalán Fernandez is a hypocrite, according to the 'new' definition...In his match report he confirms that Ujfalusi never attempted to play the ball

Two matches, really light, IMHO...I thought 4 would've felt about right...Ironic considering the competition committee employed the interpretation of Rule 115 (The lighter interpretation) to Rule 97 which states "Occur in a violent way with an opponent during the game, resulting in harmful consequences that are harmful considered serious by its very nature or by inactivity (...) is punishable by suspension of four to twelve matches."

Gotta love Spanish refereeing

Sport points out that Ujfalusi will receive the same match ban that Tito Vilanova received for his words with the referee crew last September 29 against Málaga

Ujfalusi should have gotten a 5 match ban. It would just encourage all defenders to be more mindful of the tackles they choose.

beast, stop being a spanner, that alves tackle is nothing like the ujfalusi one.

dani slides in and takes the ball, but he only kicks it into borbalan and so it flies off while his follow-through takes him into borbalan's ankle. it's a reckless tackle but the collision is down to bad luck.

ujfalusi comes down OVER the ball, showing no interest in it whatsoever, to stamp on messi's ankle. it's pre-meditated and he knew exactly what he was doing.

the only similarity is the injury suffered by the attacking player.

now, you're right that incidents like this happen, and the crazy hype is only because he did it to messi. but the alves/borbalan incident is not valid for comparison.

and a 2 game ban for ujfalusi is a joke, should be 4 or 5. but what's done is done. no need to dwell.
