Right now, Buffon doesn't even make it to the top 10 or top 20. He was the best definitely in his prime better than Casilass now, but he's been very poor recently. Lloris will be the best in a couple of years surpassing Cassilass.

Valdes is a good goalkeeper but he has NO case, none whatsoever, for best keeper in the world. Casillas, Julio Cesar and a fit Buffon are inarguably better than him, that is a fact. So yes, it is absurd to say he is the best goalkeeper in the world.

Julio Cesar and Buffon tied for the best world goalkeepers, they have unreal shot-stopping abilities, and are the complete goalkeepers. Buffon might be a bit more decorated though...
Casillas finishes behind them due to him being a bit of a liability in crosses in some cases, he's not as complete as Julio or Buffon IMO
I don't know if its just me but it seems to me Casillas plays better when his team isn't doing well...
