With Diaz, the issue is the team lacks in defense. You could get Diaz, and the blunders and problems in defense continue to hurt us vs better teams... and you don't improve in the area that is the worst in our team. The transfer makes much more sense if you have the defense sorted and all you lack is more depth up front.
LW is really needed, and while I agree a better CB and a solid LB are needed, LW is still a big issue. Wr can't rely on Fati/Victor level of players for depth.
A lot will depend on who they see attainable in the market. If they don't identify a great CB, I can understand staying put for now.
LB is a must because Martin & Fort are awful. Torrents is 18 years old coming from 2 major injuries (ACL then hamstring) and our success with big La Masia fullbacks are almost non existent. Let him develop slowly rather than pushing him due to desperation.
So,the way I see it: Backup LB & LW are a must, but an upgrade over CB if available is more important.
They identify such CB, get low level/loan LB & LW and buy the CB. They can't find one, wait until next year, get long term LW & LB and next year get a CB.
