What should the club prioritize

Grimaldo is definitely a very good option but I'm interesed in his price and his salary

If those 2 are within normal then bring why not

This season the lack of a good backup for Balde is one of things that cost us the CL. You can't play segunda/tercera level players in UCL knockouts and try to get away, every team at that level will exploit it.

What do you make of Benfica playing hardball for Carreras and Madrid moving onto Grimaldo btw?

Is Fpolo a friend of you?

JUST IN: Deco is looking to reinforce the left-back position and Grimaldo stands out as the top candidate. Barcelona highly values him for his quality, experience, and deep understanding of the club’s playing style. [@ffpolo]

Serghei discovers pacho 2 weeks ago, goes on Wikipedia/transfermarket and now he's the standard for CBs we should sign.

All that after telling us this PSG team wasn't that impressive 2-3 weeks ago.
Pacho reminds me of Akanji when City won the treble. In only that they were relatively lower profile raw players that ended up working well as role players for great teams. Once the teams level lowered (City this season) they looked normal again and nobody wants them anymore.

Akanji actually arrived on the scene quite spectacularly, similar to Pau, but at 20 at Basel & La Nati but of course lower profile considering it’s Switzerland. However, it was a splash and everyone could recognize he was going to be a star

Similar to Shaqiri, Embolo, Garcia and Ndoye - you just knew

He looks good at a level. Would be in his best interest to stay another season at Leganes imo, even if they are in 2 now.

In regards to us, would rather we spend 5m and loan that Albacete lad.

Also, did you notice Abdul Aziz got called up for Ghana and played their last friendly.

Yeah, also read we apparently paid 1m for his loan and then he played 26 minutes for BA, lol. I mostly blame Sanchez for that though, he should be given more minutes earlier in the season. When Milla took over trying to save the season there was really no time for experiments anymore.

Agreed about Kofane.

Losing them indicates we actually had a chance.

Both wantes immediate registration in the first team, which was impossible.

The only reason we were even after them and they considered us was Deco.

Main reason we lost on Bergvall was Xavi's "resignation". Then he went on visit to Spurs who offered him a better financial deal, spot in the first team and ofc Kulusevski played a role in convincing him too.

That said, don't think Bergvall is really that big of a loss. Good player ofc but don't see a "can't miss" talent in him. And we are pretty stacked in midfield anyway with some more youngsters upcoming.

I'm reading that Deco and the club were very keen on Cherki, but didn't have him as priority as it would be dependent on the exits of Pablo Torre and Fermin or Ferran who we don't have transfer listed per se but had interest, and we would be willing to sell for the right price.

That's now off the table as Pauper Pep has swooped in for Cherki.

Just thought I'd post that here as to me, it seems a very shrewd assessment and shows that the club, and Deco, are working on more levels and with more cards than they are letting on.

Something for the forum SDs (myself included!) to think about when we shout and scream "huuuh errrh, we should be getting a GK" and then the Joan Garcia and Stegen stories emerge, we need a LB for depth as "Martin sucks at football and he sucks at accounting", and then the Grimaldo stories emerge. And now, "we should be looking at guys like Cherki" and it emerges that we actually were/are.

Pacho, Hincapie, Moises Caicedo, Estupinan (well, he's a few years older but liked him a lot at Osasuna before he went to Villarreal), Kendry Paez coming to Chelsea this summer.

I was saying here for 5-6 years we should be scouting South American leagues outside Brazil (whose talents are often overvalued if not also overrated) and Argentina more extensively. Especially countries like Ecuador, Colombia and Uruguay who had some success at the U20 level. Chile sadly not been doing that well producing young players in last decade and that's why they're struggling now.

I like Hincapie and wouldn't mind signing him but the question here is how much do we want to have two shorter (both 1,84m) CBs longterm? Though Inigo is even shorter than Hincapie and he's done well alongside Cuba.

Pauper Pep has spent 70m to sign Reijnders, to replace the 60m signing of NIco Gonzalez.

Sardine clubs playing in their oil, yet again.

Don't think Reijnders is a Nico replacement. More likely coming in for Gundo or Kova. Think Nico will become a pretty important squad player for Pep.
