I believe Araujo should face the consequences of this. Stripped of captaincy and such. I know and I said it, football is just a sport. If his state of mind is related to life events I apologize. But for some football game, if he has panic attacks should clearly retire from competition like Andy Roddick did in tennis.

Let's not put Araujo into the victim category of clinically depressed people that need treatment. I ridicule this, because it's basically lost motivation case and nothing else. Araujo will not hang himself because Devils criticised him. BTW didn't Ferran admit to being depressed a year ago for loss of confidence?

Why are you assuming he was having panic attacks? Does anyone here or even in social media truly have a clue what he is or has been going through to weigh in? Are you a psychological professional in sport who has consulted the Uruguayan on this? Unlikely, this is my point

No one knows so why judge, if he is needing time - he gets it, if he is not well mentally/emotionally in a manner that is affecting his performances then taking time away is prudent. Yes, of course, it puts the team & club at a disadvantage but this too is life. You get lemons, you make lemonade

Dude was average at best on a good day and always prone to brainfarts. He should have left last summer already, but we had €/FFP problems so we decided to give him one more shot. Renewing until 2031 was stupid, we could have given him until 2029 and than we could have talked next summer if we want to extend him or sell him. Well, I guess we're getting ride of this next summer and we only play him in easy LL games from now on - he ain't coming back from this, he won't be starting any CL games for us more. Flick better look at Masia/B or bring somebody on a free/cheap this winter already who can play CL.
