the reason I started saying it after Johannesburg is because Andrés winning the World Cup for Spain quite literally meant that Zidane had nothing on him. not trophies, not consistency, not epic big game performances, nothing.

I've seen Zidane catch a 50yd ball from beckham on his foot before and balance it for a few seconds during a game many years ago. I'm not so sure Iniesta can do that.
People are getting carried away. YES Iniesta is on Zidane's level, but better than him? I'm not sure. I've never seen anyone dominate and control World Cup final from start to finish like Zidane did in '98. Even as good as Iniesta played in 2010, it was not better than Zidane.

I am a huge Zidane fan he was the best player in the world in his day.
However Iniesta is better than him no questions. He is much more consistent and has the same level of skill. Plus Iniesta will only get better.

The Brazil team in the 98 final were mentally fucked up. Ronaldo was fucked up. They were not the same team as in the rest of that tournament.
Iniesta has matched Zidane's trophy haul, has matched his international career and has shown much more consistency in big games than Zidane. For example 99 CL semi Zidane went hiding like a child when Keane went for him.
Iniesta's ability and Zidane's ability is similar but Iniesta imo shows much more consistency and his ability will only get better with experience so really:-
Iniesta > Zidane.
