Samuel Umtiti

Injured players also decline in their mental/technical aspect. Just look at Fernando Torres. To be an elite player amongst the best in the world you really have to be in a state where you're in the "zone".

Getting frustrated, losing rhythm, doubting yourself or just being disillusioned are all things that come with injuries, especially one that has wrecked someone as hard as Umtiti's knees have done him.

The knee is a precursor to all these things, sad that some have forgotten just how dominant he was beforehand. Straight up carried our defense time and time again especially in many of the biggest and most important games. Even games we lost badly like Supercopa to RM, Umtiti was singlehandedly doing everything possible in defense and played great. He was touted as a top 1-2 CB in the world by many, and even in this forum you can see that he wasn't just our best defender but amongst the very highest in the MOTM ratings game after game.

He was always overrated.

Got exposed at Roma game and been shit since.

Lol what a ridiculous thing to say. It was very well documented he had been dealing with that lingering knee injury throughout the entire 2nd half of that season and tried to play through it, which is when the Roma debacle took place.

He was dominant before that. Go back and check the MOTM threads here if you wish, or twitter, or anywhere for that matter. It was a consensus he was amongst the best CB's in the world.

Not a footballer anymore. There is no hope he will leave and no team will want him. He destroyed his own career for the sake of lifting that World Cup, really shortsighted.

He was a top CB

How can someone who is basically limping out there on the field and cannot spring even for 5 seconds, be a football player at ANY level, let alone at the worlds biggest stage, for the biggest club in the world? Like....how is this possible? He basically has no legs, I am so confused.

I don't know how the club was able to force Arthur out while not being able to do the same for this bum.

Wages.

Arthur was a relatively unknown player we plucked from Brazil, therefore is on relatively low wages. Juventus are able to offer him somewhere between double and triple of his current take home salary due to clearing Pjanic's big wages off the books and Italy's favourable tax laws for foreigners. That is a very financially enticing offer for Arthur even if he prefers Barca on a sporting basis. At the end of the day he knows the club doesn't want him anymore and he can earn a lot more money elsewhere so the lad accepted Juve's proposal in the end.

Umtiti on the other hand recently signed a bumper contract and has totally gone to shite since then both quality and health wise. No club is going give Sam anything close to what he's earning here so he is more than willing to simply sit on the bench and collect his pay.

If Puig is starting to get more minutes in the first team, why not just make Araujo third choice for now.

He's still a rookie like Puig is but he at least has the Athleticism while Umtiti doesn't. Right now I don't see any reason why Umtiti is still our 3rd Choice CB especially after this shitshow he did today.

tbf, position difference is a key.
As a midfielder, Puig has more room for error. At CB couple of errors and Araujo career here could end before its start.

Setien is big frod.

After all of the words from the start of his campaign, he don't use any young players except Fati.
Puig is playing because Arthur is gone,De Jong injured and Busqets booked.

I doubt that he would play in other scenario.

Araujo was great first game, and now he plays idiot Umtiti which can't run even 30 minutes.
