But ref clearly thought otherwise so he gave a penalty. It was a goalscoring situation so it was a clear red card...

People arguing against the red are missing the point. He let the striker get the wrong side of him and as soon as you get into such a position you're in big trouble. There was slight contact, and the striker sold it well and made the most of it, but you do see those given. Don't really have any sympathy tbh.
