Yikes he threw Garcia under the bus

Q- After coaching Joan Garcia, what's the thing you're surprised most about him? And is he one of the best you've ever coached?

🚨🎙️| Flick: "This isn't an easy question, because I was the coach for both Neuer and Marc. Both of them are great keepers.

Yeah that is what it will be and he was probably absolutely raging at the game not being put to bed in second half and then Alaves going close to scoring a few times at end.

There was never much meaningful control of game.

First half was a chaotic shit show.

Second half for first half hour was better but cant remember too many good chances then at end of half when Alaves pressed it was panic stations and no control whatsoever.

There is a definite nervousness in the team at moment.

Flick is like "all I'm asking is for you guys to be perfect all the time, so we don't concede, is it that hard". Lol.

If other coaches had ever gotten so emo on the bench, OMG lol

Xavi lost it on the bench and used to verbally abuse his own players.

If Flick starts that and making Xavi excuses about media to manipulate his situation he can sling his hook.

Unlikely though.

It's typical Catalan small minded village bias from brainless press.
Hype up any Catalan player and then expect coaches to agree with them and put them higher than all times best.

Joan is doing great but he played 10 matches here and they want Flick to put him higher than Neuer.

Catalan press are doing a massive disservice to all these players.

This YouTuber points out what I saw in the 2nd half, at time stamp 4:40.

The team was much better from the start of the 2nd half, and it wasn't all due to Pedri, who only came in at 60th minute, dropping olmo deeper for bernal. adding some much needed stability and we were playing a very mature game, waiting for the opportunities instead of taking unnecessary risk.

They created a few chances at the end, but this is barce under flick that's always doing to happen.

I was personally encouraged by the 2nd half and raphinha being back, not sure why he was being emo to be honest, a few good things to take for this game.

The team were poor in first half and in second half improved but still largely poor and not doing much with possession had.. which results in nervy last 10/15 minutes when Alaves push up.

There is zero chance Flick thinks that first 30 min in second half was good, controlled football as it was not going anywhere and nervy finish came.

Second half v this lot last season once Casado had his regular hooking at HT was much much better.

Yep, great interview from him too - what a person & coach, very happy & fortunate to have him at the helm

Gracies Joan!
His integrity is plain to see and always important to keep things in context where the German is precise in what he conveys. He is regularly baited on RM topics which he consistently & resolutely swats away, yet Spanish 'journalists' have learned little or are simply forced to repeatedly use this shit stirring line of questioning

On Araujo, he asked for privacy and that it is a private matter - agree with him & Laporta, the culture we live in is embarrassing the way player has been abused. On flip side, very concerning going forward for a player to be mentally shook in such a high pressure position considering the responsibility it carries in this team and club. Would love for course correction but that's a tough one to walk back - I see him ultimately & inevitably on the exit ramp, making not one but two central defenders needed

On Garcia, some in media have spun his comments to suggest Joan isn't at Neuer's level while in fact Hansi just sidestepped comparisons considering the level of all the keepers he has coached. Yet still stated that Joan's quality was clear from Day 1 and that he is the future. I think that resonated for me as it should for all cules who watch Garcia's performances - there is supreme confidence with him in the XI and in no time he will be the most talked about gk in game

On end of match drama, clear the Sorg aspect profoundly affected him and he articulated the desire to collect himself before reacting in the dressing room. That kind of composure and introspection as a very visible coach at the biggest club in the world is admirable not to mention atypical. Always sincere, honest & unflinching and clearly the club and exposure to a new culture has had a visible impact on the coach as well. Moreover, he handles it in a manner that cules should feel proud of - different from Pep or Lucho's personality but just as extraordinary and befitting of Barça. Just wonder in this adaptation to a new culture how much of an impact the absurdity of La Liga & RFEF has had on his well being
