Why, because we failed to beat Inter and Bayern? Not diabolical at all. Disappointing, that's all.

Then put out by Man Utd and also worst home defeat in decades to Real to miss out on double most likely.

Had FDJ stayed fit Barca win the double though to be fair to Xavi.

But referring to the following season. That Barca were a mess and not at level of top 2 EPL that season but finished their relatively easily in the end for La Liga.

Not going to argue any time Barca or Real won it they wouldnt be top 2 in EPL though but in their down seasons would be much more unlikely than in Spain.

Yeah, and United beat both Liverpool and City that season, among others, that was a United that finished top 3, not the relegation zone version. And it was Europa League, not that big of a deal.

Was a big deal as club needed it badly for income and the CWC income being on the horizon.

They wanted to win that Europa and the one previously when scudded by Frankfurt.

Anyway not referring to that season but the follwing one when said dont think that Barca would finish top 2 in EPL.

Still, priority was La Liga. Like Arsenal prioritized EPL and got eliminated from Europa League by Sporting. Quite normal as well.

Btw, I have no issues signing the praises of EPL but I need to see some consistent 3 way fight at the top. Not happened in a long long time. City being shite is on them, not the league being suddenly much stronger.

Barca clearly cared for Europa in 2023 when went out to United.

They had no choice but to care about it due to position club was in.

Also to avoid another embarassing defeat after Frankfurt and how went out the group.

Not when went out.

They went all in to try and beat United.

Nothing was given up for La Liga in that tie.

Losing in worst home defeat in decades to Real to throw the double wasnt great either.

Anyway not season referring to.
2023-24 in retrospect we weren't that that that bad. I mean yes we did finish 10 points behind Madrid, but it was the 2 Clasicos that decided everything in the end. Also a red card away from the UCL semi final. Anyways Xavi did lose the plot and it was the right decision for him to go.

It it no about a three way fight in any one season.

It is about knowing who will be top 2 when it begins.

There has barely been any league title race of not bewtween top 2 in Spain either but point still remains.

The red card happened.. it was another collapse.

It cant be used as excuse and Barca were still favs to qualify at that point.

Who is the best team Barca beat that campaign? A Napoli team in a mess?
