Camp Nou

I don’t live in Barcelona but Ricard is head of BIMSA which is the local company overseeing infrastructure for city projects like Camp Nou. He also happens to be the spokesperson for Suma Barça which is a Laporta opposition group. This group joined with Victor’s group to demand Laporta’s resignation over Olmo registration

So Ricard is not related to Victor but aligned and openly in opposition to Laporta and conveniently appointed by City Council (Collboni) as a technical liaison to ensure compliance which he insists have unresolved safety issues

Effectively he is the technical gatekeeper for CFO that City Council approves and as he is a political adversary it is quite clear it is a proxy battle over Barça politics

Okay, thanks for the insight.

I definitely think there is some politics happening in the background.

When Madrid did their stadium, the feeling in the city council was probably something like, "This is Madrid, with all the means for the city, people, etc., we can turn our eyes to some of the small details, as long as it's generally safe."

It seems to be the complete opposite at the Barca city council, where no regard is given for the fact that it's FC Barcelona and they want every I dotted and every T crossed.

No one can convince me that, as the stadium sits right now, it's not just as, if not more, secure & safe than Madrid's was when they were allowed to return.

All politics, which is why Laporta brought the full media in yesterday, to say, "You guys take a look for yourselves."

There are always options to solve things differently.

One way: "Oh, 2 fire extinguishers are missing at this exit. We give you the permit, but promise us they'll be installed this week."

Other way: "Oh, 2 fire extinguishers are missing at this exit. We deny you the permit, until we look at it again in 2 weeks." 2 weeks later: "Yes you have installed them, but we forgot to mention there are 2 other missing on the other exit. See you in another 2 weeks."

I'm pretty sure Barcelona's city council choses here the second option all the time.

Yea that's exactly what it is, I was going through a similar situation, where each time I went for approval on a certain thing, they would find another fault, that was already preexisting to deny approval

I had to say bitch, why didn't you tell me all this in the first place, when it was clearly there before.

The 2nd approach you mentioned definitely seems to be the one the city council is taking.

Paddy Pimblett: "I would love to be able to come and punch you [Topuria] in the face in front of 90,000 people at the Bernabéu, enemy territory for me. The Bernabéu is a shithole ,"

Pimblett sees things how they are. Never thought I would find anything to like the guy about, but here we are.

The fire service came out and said they inspected and cannot sign it off for safety.

But guess they are just more liars and anti Barca.. while Laporta is a bastion of truth.

There is nothing for anyone in council to gain by delaying it when safe.
