Camp Nou

I didn't mention it yesterday, but I thought at some point watching the video, how wonderful it would be to have Messi play at the new Camp Nou.

Be it as a veteran contract for a season or simply a testimonial match.

If we continue on this path, by the time the stadium is finished, any team out there would absolutely dread the idea of going to Camp Nou for a CL match.

Let's see if they make this deadline.

New, 10 minutes interior footage on Ferran's channel. Some areas look already advanced, some still need a lot of work. Not the work on the new third stand, but on this will determine when we'll return back to Camp Nou. Let's see if we manage in September.

All of us deep down want this to be true

Ferran on YT has a nice update on the status of interior work of Camp Nou - definitely a lot of progress ahead to get the dressing rooms and interior spaces ready for even the partial reopening in September (4 months). This seems fairly achievable but surprised that seemingly little progress has been made with those spaces for several weeks now - priority has clearly been on other aspects of renovations

The pitch looks increasingly like a pitch ready for football which is consistent with the estimation that within 10 weeks after being laid it would be ready for play

LED banners across lower ring looks 75% complete and many have probably seen the night testing that looks well advanced as well

The first two tiers are mostly completed with some detailed work around the bocas still ongoing, the 1st VIP ring that needs to advance well by June 30 and the outer ring is predominantly in place with the last ring around 30% bolted in

The perimeter of the stadium will need to clear paths to permit fans to come/go without incident but they have been incredibly efficient in this logistical aspect with the construction crew

By September, Camp Nou should be more or less ready to re-open, permits permitting. The 60k seating will surely be done with most of the outer top ring work in place (Will they cover it for matches with something? We’ll see)

In Ferran's latest interior video, we can also see how they are reinforcing the old concrete structure with steel beams so that it can support the second grandstand for a few more decades.

Article in the Financial Times about the stadium

We've lost 100m per season since being away

Club plans for revenues to top 1.2B in 5 years.

VIP seats to increase almost fivefold, to 9,600.

roughly 60 per cent of the VIP seats — which will cost up to €81,000 a season, up from about €12,000 previously, has already been sold.

The club expects match day revenues to rise by around 60 per cent to at least €350m per
year.

Some of the VIP seating is far less than that, I’ve been approached by the club and its under 10k annually
