The hype around Isak is going overboard...
It is. But only because we live in poor times for strikers. We have Haaland and Isak instead of Ibra, Suarez, Aguero, Villa..... 10 years ago, an Isak would go max. for 30-50m and that's not because of fee inflation.

They'll probably go in for him again in January and end up paying less. Newcastle are run by clowns at the moment.

The moral of the story is the importance of having proper SD and data analytics department.

Klopp, one of the best coaches ever, but a mediocre at best recruiter, went in 2022 against Liverpool's data analytics team (without Edwards there at the time) and opted for Nunez over Isaak who was the team's recommendation.

Had they gone with Isak in 2022, they would have spent 60m euros (as much as Newcastle paid that summer to get him), and would have had x20 the impact on the pitch the last 3 seasons. They splashed instead 80m euros plus 20m in bonuses for Nunez

Now in 2025, in order to 'rectify' the mistake they have to splash an eye-watering 150m euros more or less.
Do the math. That's around 180-190m euros LOSSES because of a bad decision that had to be corrected.
Mind you, I am only talking transfer fees here. If he get to the wage bill, this will look even worse.

PS: Now imagine if the lever-money in 2022 were used wisely by Barca, and not by a moronic egopath who thinks he is top 5 coach in the world (where in reality he is not even top100) AND the best eye for players.
