Xavi played Pedri in a 3 and he has been far better since moved away from it and not most advanced midfielder.

If the argument is Pedri in 433 plays same way then this isnt a double pivot anyway....

Moving on from single pivot is the best thing Flick has done.

Zubi "can" do it, but he is far better in double pivot. Almost no CDM in the past decade is better as single pivot. Even Rodri and Busquets plays better when supported by another CDM (Busi best season since treble was 17/18 with Raki as 2nd pivot, Rodri played great with Stones moving essentially as 2nd CDM).

It is an outdated concept that requires a player that doesn't exist.

That doesn't even touch the fact that both Pedri and Frenkie are better deeply, allowing our build up to improve especially under pressing.

433 is so out dated PSG is the best team in Europe playing that system, with two midfielders most here laughed at a few seasons ago.

PSG can play differently as they have those full backs who stretch the game in way most others dont.

Aloso they do usuall have two dropping they just rotate it more often.

It is not a strict 433 at all.

Teams were crowding the Barca DM too often as with other sides and it worked which is why teams move to a two.

Moving on from a single pivot was done before Flick, because we didn't have a player to play the position; that's the whole point.

That player could be Zubi.

Rodri can play it and excelled at it for multiple seasons.

We definitely didn't use Rakitic as a double pivot; I don't know what you're talking about with that. He was a box-to-box midfielder in a 3-3.

We moved to 2 with busi because he was old and de jong can't play in midfield outside of a double pibot

I don't know what you mean by Pedri playing deep. His heat map for two seasons tells us exactly where he's playing, and that's as a CM, which is the exact same way he would play in a 4-3-3.

Pedri plays as part of double pivot, which is niether a CM or CDM in the sense you are describing.

Pedri and Frenkie gets to play from deeper point in build up, with both doing it. This is the basic concept of double pivot. It helps both players in getting their best form and help the team escape pressing better.

You keep using the word "can" , and sure they "can" do it. But none plays his best there. As I said, even those who "can" play single pivot are better in double pivot. It serves no one any good to go back there.

And in his last season Xavi tried to force Romeu in single pivot, and later tried the same with Frenkie, and both failed miserably.

Pedri is playing in double pivot and the one with more freedom.

More freedom to drop deep and get on ball and not wait through a DM as much and when ball forward when it arises.
