Pedri is playing in double pivot and the one with more freedom.

More freedom to drop deep and get on ball and not wait through a DM as much and when ball forward when it arises.

Which is the reason so many teams moved away from it when opposittion could crowd the single pivot.

By your logic either double pivot doesnt exist or Barca are not playing it anyway.

If people don't understand that pedri is functional doing that job of a Central midfielder, they need to stop watching football.

In a 433 he would be doing the exact same job, just a different formation.

If he does the same job in a 433 it becomes a double pivot.

A CM in a 433 wont drop to help the DM as much as that... or guess what.. it is a double pivot set up.

It ceases to be a lone DM.

Side bar my boy @khaled_a_d was telling us for the entire time xavi wanted zubi, that he was skeptical of zubi's ability can to make the step up to a big club, now that he's done something that was clear he could do to most with Spain & Arsenal

He's all of a sudden an expert in what he can & can't excel at lol.

The reason xavi wanted him is because he can knew he can play that single pivot position at the level required.

Because he showed at multi times at RS.

Xavi wanted a ton of players in midfield and the ones he signed largely failed to make any impac.

To make out it is some huge plus for Xavi as Barca were linked to Zubi but he didnt want to move to play under Xavi anyway is nothing really.

If pedri was playing the same way valverde is asked to for Madrid under alonso, I would say okay you have a point, because in that double pivot there is no central midfielder.

Their are multiple different ways to execute the 4231.

But what you're saying is a change in title, means a change in function, which is simply incorrect.

The way pedri plays now, he does the functional job of a Central Midfielder, if we switch to a 433 he would be doing the same thing, and excel at it, as he showed before at Barcelona.

Never do get much clue of how Pedri plays.

Pedri is clearly playing in double pivot and the one with more freedom of the two.

That is not the same as just being a CM who drops that much or it then becomes a double pivot anyway.

All this mental gymnastics as was caught out claiming Pedri would be wost in a deeper two than Gavi, Gundo and FDJ and absolutely positively has to be Barcas 'most advanced midfielder'.

By Jamrock rules Barca are not playing a double pivot as Pedri is a CM in this formation.

That would be Frenkie who was Barcas best midfielder in 433 in Xavis first season run of form.. absolutely ran show in 4-0 win in Bernabeu etc.

Who Xavi picked in 433 far more than Gavi and in the biggest games v Real etc in run up to change to box midfield.

Same Frenkie who played 433 a number of times under Koeman and was Barcas best player after Messi... see final win v Bilbao as easiest example.

Top stuff.

But Jamrock will lie and tell you Xavi preferred Gavi there.

Likes of Gavi would be even further down pecking order if Zubi arrived at Barca at DM.

This lad thinks Gavi and Frenkie are better deep midfielders than Pedri and Casado is a top class player.
