3 - Alejandro Balde

He's a luxury problem. No Alba or Alves, but who is anyways and the price-performance ratio is very acceptable. The club isn't in a financial state to start working on such problems. And he still has potential to get better.

Highlights review seems he had a good game, even with the handball, he did well to get back after the suicide line was broken

But only going off extended highlights

A stupid yellow card. Flick needs to start giving out fines for shit like this. Can't get a yellow for punching the ball, it's inexcusable to rob yourself of a tactical foul in that way. And some refs in LaLiga would have given him the second yellow for the handball as well.

This guy is suddenly rated as one of the best around out of nothing really. He is only good when he has space and time on the ball to pass/cross. Otherwise he is Bamby on skates when defending and loses his head easily. A fraud.
Most clubs (especially big clubs) wildly overrate most of their players on their forums. This site is no different. Some mediocre players like this guy have constant excuses made for them.

Players who genuinely are as good as the hype suggests on forums are rare. On here I'd say Pedri is one of the players who deserves the hype he gets. Flick...he's a good coach but has plenty of flaws. Yet people on here talk about him like he's the messiah because he won La Liga against poor Real and Atletico teams. The CL though was the acid test and he shipped 7 goals in two games against Inter.

You are as old as me, you said. So you have seen it all before many times and know how biased people are to their own clubs' players and how they make excuse after excuse after excuse for them. That's why I like Rangers Media - they mostly don't sugar coat it, admit most of their players and their coach and their board are rubbish, and don't pretend they're closing the gap on Celtic out of copium.

Malvolio with another great take.
I think it's just getting old.

Honestly the number of players in world football I rate/enjoy watching is pretty low, lol. Balde certainly isn't one of them.

It's getting older and more cynical/negative. Maybe kids are enthralled by every average player as they're new to the game and it's fresh to them.

The amount of average/overrated players Barca have, how do we continue to win, is anyone's guess.

Need to swap out entire XI, no squad with PSG

Not saying Barca players are average or overrated. They're mostly good. Just not all my type of player.

I get excited by Pedri and Yamal, that's about it. They're the players I'd tune in to watch. There's other top players in the squad but I don't particularly like watching them. Malvolio is likely the same.

It's just ageing and getting more negative.

And let's call a spade a spade - this Barca squad wouldn't win a bean against Klopp's Liverpool, Pep's City, Heynckes' Bayern. prime Real Madrid or Pep's or Enrique's Barca.

I mean Raphinha is a key player and he's not even a special footballer in the grand scheme of football history.

The calibre of teams around Europe is lower now. There's hardly any all-time great teams - in fact there's none.

Malvolio is very negative in general. I take a more cynical stance on football too - I am not as negative or critical as him, but it takes a lot to impress me. Even guys like Lewandowski and Cristiano Ronaldo aren't my type of player, and they're considered excellent players historically.

I am just very hard to please. I have the type of players I like.

Pretty much this. Football is going down hill fast. Poor players at every big club.

It's not like Barca's are way worse than others.

Maybe I'm getting old or just have high expectations due to watching football at its peak during the 90s and 00s/10s.

You two are blinded by nostalgia. The game simply did not produce fullbacks with the same athletic and dribbling ability that Balde has in the past. In the past, you were a Neville as a fullback. The likes of Cafu, Carlos were really really rare in that part of the pitch. To call Balde a fraud is just ridiculous.

We beat Inter with Balde. Crucial player. Same as Kounde. I think our left and right backs are good.

Baldes physical skills are perfect for the Flick ball. Need his super speed.

He is a top 3 Spanish leftback, which basically makes him a top 5 LB in the world.

Not sure what more you expect from him. Well, a decent cross here and there granted, but in terms of owning the whole wing with speed, you will find few other options.

We'll see who will go to WC. List keeps growing with Cucu, Grimaldo, Balde and now Carreras in the capital.

Think Grimaldo will be left out soon enough, question is who enters instead.
