Said I won't read anything into these friendlies but Balde again looked off. Bad decision making and channeling himself into lanes he can't get out of because of his dead right leg.

Balde is indeed not really Barca level like Alba and certainly far from Alves - but he'll come true when shit hits the fan... he'll be alright for us, bit I wouldn't mind looking for a new LB next year when our FFP will be more in ok...

Balde is the least of our worries to replace.

Balde is fine. If your Flick you might want to consider asking Balde going at 100% for 60-70 minutes and then Jofre coming on at the 20-30 to keep that intensity from the LB.

Balde should be able to get very close to Alba’s level. If he doesn’t it means he never was able to improve his cross.

Don’t forget Alba has always played with Messi.

There are things already that Balde can and Alba never could. But Balde crossing is indeed under the bare minimum currently.

Alba was still one of our best offensive weapon even when Messi left. His runs and crosses are great regardless of teammates. Yes, having better teammates obviously helps.

Alba isn't in "goat tier" because it is crowded right there, the likes of Maldini, Carlos and even Marcelo are fairly ahead and those played in the past 35 years only.

But he was really good and one of the best in his era, and if Balde reached that level it is a damn good achievement.

And people need to be a little more modest with the expectations, the likes of Alves can't be the bar for our players

Balde was really good before his injury which frankly fucked us in the CL along with Kounde's.

This is pre-season so don't really care much about it. He's still young and has a lot to learn.

Most FBs aren't even good until their mid 20s. Someone like Mendes is an outlier and even he didn't hit this level until this last season.

Problem with Balde is: he looked best or at least same, in his breakout season when he was 17. We'll see this season. At least he doesn't get to socialize with his best pal Fati no more.

False he was better last season than he was his first season, first season was just surprising because he was a kid and Xavi basically benched Alba for him, which had nothing to do with alba's ability, just Amigo's.

The season after than he was out the entire season.

So idk where that his coming from.

So we've had two full seasons of clear progression.
