    Hans-Dieter Flick

Bet Man United wish they could have played your backline the other night,

    Manchester United

Fair point which I overlooked. Just think Casemiro in his natural position would have been a better bet. Fernandes was quite disciplined in first half but reverted to hero ball in second. It will likely be Mainoo and Ugarte but they don't have any depth as you say. Eriksen is a lovely footballer...

    Hans-Dieter Flick

I have always said that La Liga and Serie A are more tactical at any present moment than PL and Bundesliga, on the whole. I think many people believe that.

    Manchester United

Fair enough. I think their chances against Everton were fairly clear cut - xG is a flawed stat and I definitely think they should have had an xG of 2 or more - two of their goals were basically tap ins. But Everton were the better team before the first goal. Like I say don't wanna spend time...

    Serie A

Good to hear Bove is out of intensive care and progressing well. Hate hearing this sort of stuff and life is far far more important than football. There have been plenty of football player tragedies and near-tragedies. I think they have a really good chance of doing it. They've been a quality...

    Chelsea

The signs were there in the metrics that they would improve (not that I put 100 percent stock in stats). That is proving true so far. They are scoring goals for fun and are a free-flowing team with som excellent attackers. If they can keep Nkunku fit (big if) hopefully he will rotate in and...

    Erling Haaland

RVN was far from a great player outside the box, but even he wasn't as terrible as Haaland is in general play lol. I have never seen a player enscapsulate the dichotomy between 'footballer' and 'goalscorer' to the extent this guy has.

La Liga Round 17: Betis - Barca 2-2

I was thinking that myself. I noticed that most of your away games were against the better teams in the division.

La Liga Round 16: Mallorca - Barca 1-5

I didn't watch the game but impressive win in what looks like a tricky place to go - they'd won three of the previous five league games there. Mallorca are a decent side so it is a good win. You need to maintain it now making sure you beat Betis, who are another tricky opponent.

    Netherlands

Always liked the Netherlands. They've declined in the last 15 years or so, and the signs were even there before that. But from the 70s to the 90s they produced some of the best players of all time, and played some of the best football. Amazing for such a small country. I guess it isn't...

    Football Video Support (FVS)

I think a challenge system is a good idea, as well as getting rid of the clear and obvious error nonsense.

    Europa League

I remember thinking it was a nice little drag by Mazraoui too for the goal. Great by Hojlund but he was poor against Arsenal I thought.

    9 - Robert Lewandowski

Yeah I don't agree with scapegoating him when he has a bad game - but he obviously needs a lot of service too. Which is fine at his age, but he cannot go on forever.

    Mohamed Salah

    I agree.

    Thierry Henry

I haven’t read the posts, but I have thought about it and realised I overreacted and was being unfair to Thierry (in my now deleted rant). I guess I was in a bad mood at the time and venting my annoyance and he was my target. He was obviously an outstanding player, which I never disputed, he...

    Thierry Henry vs Samuel Eto'o

Definitely Eto'o. Premfaces think Eto'o is nowhere near Henry (I have seen a lot of them say it). Because they're clueless and don't watch other leagues.

    9 - Robert Lewandowski

The child who has never kicked a ball still talking bollocks I see. Back on ignore for the American, Drake worshipping kid with the attitude problem who talks down to everyone, despite offering absolutely no insight whatsoever. Nobody with sense takes you seriously. Your football takes are...

    9 - Robert Lewandowski

Yeah I have heard of Boniek and vaguely remember him, he is a legend. I think it was Beckenbauer who popularised the libero/sweeper role. Germany has a lot of history with it as he, Matthaus and Sammer, amongst others, have allplayed the role. Don't really remember enough of Boniek in it...

    9 - Robert Lewandowski

Yeah it's a combination of advancements in medicine, nutrition and sports science, and better balls, pitches and boots, less thuggish football (though some bad stuff can still happen now, but relatively speaking). I think it's also a mindset thing - a lot of players are much more serious about...

    9 - Robert Lewandowski

Fair enough, pretty good post and I agree with most of it. But the thing is - Lewa is praised here when he does well, and criticised when he doesn't, the same as any other player. The trolls who have posted here (and this is a good post by you) have made all sorts of excuses for his bad games...
