Comparing positions to positions is pretty useless because for me the only truth is that which can be measured. Are Ronaldo and Bale better than Robben and Ribery because they cost 100mil each while Bayern got Robben and Ribery à 25mil? Because they are hyped more than the previous two? Stats vs overall input? Number of views on youtube highlight videos? Until someone creates an universal meter based on complete objectiveness one cannot say without a bias that some great player is better than the other great player. For me there are only great, good and bad teams and same goes for players, and no one can really argue with that unless the person is a 12 year old fanboy. Big games are won inside the heads, strategist vs strategist and pawn vs pawn (coach and player in a simpler way.)

Real essentially always had the best players per position nominally. That does mean little if they don't work well as a team. Only Ancelotti managed to bring that collective of individuals together as a team. StarLord, as so often, can only bring forth weak arguments for his case.

Perhaps, but the fact to the matter is that Pep got the best squad in Bayern history and failed in the big matches. The big European 3 aka Bayern, Real and Barca were really the meter for many since the German teams are struggling at the moment. And last 3 SF matches against Bayern's biggest opponents ended conceding 8 goals and scoring none, in the last match against Barcelona Bayern didn't even have a shot at your goal. That is unacceptable and any other Bayern coach throughout the history would have been sacked for such a result.
Big squads win you league matches not knockout matches. Those are won by tactics

If you have something against possession football, then don't fucking hire a coach who's known for possession football. It isn't that hard to wrap your head around.

I could bend my philosophy for that, RM in the early 2000s was a great collection of great individuals and back then you could say they had "best" players in every position but to say that now? Bayern fan says his team has the best individuals, Barca fan says his team has the best individuals and so forth and there's really no universal truth in that matter if I try to think objectively. Every team of the big 3 consists of WC players making it useless to start rating them against each other.

Seriously. It's like buying a fiat and wanting to drive it like a ferrari. I think...

I agree and I said that in one of my posts earlier today, although I used the word strategy which by concept is a bit off if we use the terms from organizational studies. I also said that Pep should have modified his tactics for the game due to the vast amount of injuries. I didn't either mean that we have the largest squad in our history but the "best" starting XI as well as the largest bench with the most quality ever.
