That's probably the biggest disappointment with Xavi so far. His team plays random football. Especially consider that he is in rebuild phase, he should build the team. But what he is doing now is win at any cost. No problem with that but then he is just similiar to EV or any coaches post Pep.

When a team plays random football it means the manager have no idea what to do
a team in rebuild (for 2 years lol) will play a consistent system but maybe the players will not be up to the task, That's rebuild
A random display every 15 minutes on every game means the manager is learning how to do things

Bad first half, better 2nd half. What's important at this stage after an atrocious period is to see improvement. If we are to reach a good level we'll do it step by step, not just out of thin air.

Two very important games up next. 2 wins are a must and would give a huge boost for the remainder of the season, but it'll be far from easy.

The issue is that it's chaotic and random
Overall we made no improvement, as it still too random and nobody can define what's the style Barcelona play

Created a lot of chances as Porto went all out for the game to try and win it and took risks.

The amount of space Porto left out wide was unreal.

They pressed high all game and put 5 players to pressure FDJ, Gundo when trying to play out from back at times.

Barca could hav conceded more quite easily. Kounde seemed intent on making that happen.

Bigger problems for Barca recently have been braking down the banks of 5 defenders more so than how Porto played and then stopping teams breaking when commit players forward.

"We needed this after two years. We reacted well and displayed a winning mentality on several occasions. We deserved this win."

We needed be more daring" he said in reference to the vast improvement after the break. "It was time to push further up the pitch. I'm very happy because the second half was really good."

"This was an important step in the right direction. It means a lot to the club. That's the first of our targets achieved in the Champions League. It's has calmed us down and boosted our confidence, especially that of the players."

He aint getting sacked yet but he is at the time he needs to show the problems Barca have encountered are being dealt with.

Step 1 ditching Romeu may have happened and have to give him credit for that left hand side last night.

Progression of team/players and a good run in CL even without league title is what need from here.

Pep is specialist in ironing out tactical problems and new approaches in first half of season and coming on strong in secod half.

Xavi to some extent did that last season and needs to again now.

Someody should tell Xavi it's just Porto, an unimpressive portugese side. And if it weren't for Cancelo he'd never won that match.

The coaches job is to get the best from his players.

Cant say fuck all to do with him when players play well and then say he is shite if players dont.

Coaches live and die by how their players perform either way and on them to maximise it.

Xavi deserves credit for that yesterday on Cancelo.

Like he deserves all the credit in the world for Lewandisney, Ferran, Cardiophinha, Romeu and so on.

Well yes that is the point...you cant blame him for players playing badly and say its luck when play well.
He was the one who brought most of those players and most are playing dreadfuly on a constant basiss under his command. Cancelo had some strokes of genius that saved the day but he can't do magic day in and day out.
The point is the team plays nothing for so long now and only some brilliant individual play can save the day if they occur.
