World Cup '26 qualifiers discussion

Western Europe produces all of the footballers for those small countries. Yet Europe gets the same quota like before. Sounds unfair, right?

I know Curacao won't end up with 10-0 loss. Their players are all from the Dutch school of football. But what this has to do with the development of football in Curacao?

It's politics and Infantino securing his lifetime reign of FIFA.

there are so many weak teams apart from the european ones. I really hope there are not many groups with more than one european nation so they can be on 1st or 2nd place as often as possible. The knock out stage will be the same as every time. Europe vs south america.
I dont like this new tournament but the only change is that i wont watch all the group stage games. Maybe the change the system again bevor wc2030

They're using the bits system of increase so it will be 64 next, then 96, then 128 etc.

Not happening, as organizing it now makes it almost unappealing to anyone. Logistics will stop this one.

USA is hosting 48 because it won't need to build anything anyway, due to unmatched infrastructure through massive country, Saudi will host it just because MBS wants to be the cool prince and don't care about financial loss. For normal countries, it is literally taking 6 of them to host it in 2030, and CONMEBOL tried to propose 64 and was ridiculed.

I doubt we witness a 64 team WC in our life.

There is no "fair" in those tournaments. It is about money and expanding the brand rather than fielding the top 48 teams.
Increasing teams in Europe won't do much for either. Football is already well established there

There will be more games overall, with lots of terrible games, but almost same number of good games.

This was happening regardless of who was in charge in FIFA. It is just business as usual

People said same things about Havelange, then Blatter then Infantino. At some point we gotta understand it isn't any person decision. It is what money decides

The UEFA play offs in March 2026 has been confirmed

I would be astonished if Italy doesn't make it.
Poland, Turkey and Denmark should make it imo.
