So 2 WCs is nothing?

And also you have 1994 where they were incredibly close
Italiy is one of the great footballing nations.

They just don't have 4 legit WCs.

Germany's 4 are insanely impressive, by contrast.

1954 - Beat the great Hungarian team of Puskas

1974 - Beat the great Dutch team of Cruyff

1990 - Beat a GOAT

2014 - Beat the GOAT

Why are people counting the 2002 WC then? That was super controversial officiating.
2002 was very strange one. A stacked Netherland team could not qualify. Other strong nations like France, Argentina, Portugal, Italy...all played poorly.

Only Brazil played great the whole tournament.

That's for UEFA to figure it out.

I can't imagine scoreline like that is good football to watch.
That doesn't matter, they're just the qualifying matches. Look at the World Cup: since 2000, there have only been 2 non European winners, including four titles in a row. Europe is by far the most competitive continent. It would be at least as difficult for Argentina to win the European Championship as it is to win the World Cup. And I say that as a European who wanted argentina to win it every world cup😄

For me, it does matter as what would be the point of these qualifying matches. Might as well just get rid of them and have a WC every 2 years.

The point you made of the European team winning 4 consecutive titles is a whole different discussion.

No it is important because there are many teams as good as chile, bolivia, columbia, or something like that who costantly fail to qualify for wc because there are also many good teams. The biggest problem of european quali is that not the direct comparison, but rather the goal difference that counts in case of a tie in points. If that weren't the case, it wouldn't matter if some games ended 10-0.

Exactly my point, something needs to change for UEFA qualifiers as GD is too much of a factor in this case.

CONMEBOL qualifiers format for the WC26 is ridiculous too for other reasons, but you don't see scorelines like that there.
