Dembele was hated by the fans before he left, really, but Trent is a player who contributed massively to their club, and is moving on after a long period of service and plenty of trophies won.

It seems reactionary as you said, but I am surprised that the tone is so negative, it doesn't seem like anyone is wishing him well.
