Man City and Pep will likely win the league for the fourth time in six years. They have had the by far toughest schedule so far and Chelsea’s lead amounts to just 2 points. They have already played against Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool away from home 7 games into the league.

A Haaland away from demolishing most opponents as well as seen against PSG and Liverpool. I wish that we had Pep’s and Man City’s problems and challenges.

With Guardiola selecting the same starting XI that beat Chelsea, most expected City to play like they did at Stamford Bridge. That afternoon City pressed relentlessly, affording the hosts barely any time on the ball and forcing them to rely on counter-attacks. City effectively sapped the life out of the European champions, neutralising their threat from deep after they failed to do so in the Champions League final.

That is not how City played at Anfield though. Predictably Liverpool started at 100mph, looking to shock City in the opening 10 minutes like they have done on so many occasions before. Instead of rising to it, City let the hosts have the ball. They didn't press much up-front, and when they won possession they passed it between themselves until things had calmed down. Gradually a raucous home crowd settled down, the game's sting taken out by Guardiola's men. MEN

If they both left there clubs today majority of the club would be after Pep, maybe Napoli, Milan will want Klopp over Pep.

all hypotheticals. we can only imagine it, but we'll never know

but the facts are there. same record, weaker teams and less money spent. klopp is doing very well.

Technically superior yet mentally weak teams don't crumble in league matches or in group stages CL, because no matter what happens, they still have a lot of games to neutralize the defeat and they will usually manage to do it due to their technical superiority and their league history in previous seasons.

On the other hand, when they come to CL quarters KO matches = well, just watch majority of Pep's City ties and you'll understand.

Even Mats is rarely crumbling in La Liga.
But when he plays in a key CL KO match or for a German NT team, he is another person.

Fair point.
League mentality and cup mentality are worlds apart.

I pointed out a few days ago that Pep has not -as far as I can remember- played any league-deciding derby against a direct competitor the final match-days of any of the leagues he has won or lost.
Even the crazy 98-97 vs pool in 2018/19, they didn't face each other after early january

Ps: or maybe he has
the lost classico 1-2 to RM in 2011/12
Don't remember how many points RM were above before the game

Pep's City: 1.026b spent / 341m sold (6 seasons)

Klopp's Liv: 532m spent / 400m sold (7 seasons)

in other words, pep is a chequebook manager and klopp is every club president's wet dream
Both are geniuses in different ways. Klopp achieves miracles, his teams should no way be competing with the very best but his Dortmund team overcame Bayern and Liverpool overcame City. Klopp maximises the hell out of the talent he has which helps him compete with managers that spend more money and have better players.

Bit harsh on Pep. Liverpool have a ton more prestige + Historic winning dna + Anfield. City is a plastic club and have to pay more than Liverpool to attract players. Pep has done a great job at Man City

I don't disagree, Pep has done a fabulous job at City. But if he had the same resources as Klopp as opposed to the unlimited cash of the UAE, I doubt he would have done quite as well.

Should big six be worried?

Will probably turn into big 7.

Probably City, Chelsea and Newcastle in a couple of years will become the new Big 3,maybe Big 4 if Man United get their shit together.

Liverpool is not on the same level from the spending perspective, neither do Arsenal or Tottenham.

But Newcastle will take a few years to become really competitive
Like it happened for City or Chelsea.
