Not a big stats guy, eye test > stats always, but saw this in sport and thought it would be interesting.

Nico best season 23/34 compared to raph Ballon D'or season this year.

The we have nico this season vs Diaz this season.

I'm surprised to see Nico having better progressive carries and dribble numbers than Diaz, since that would be the biggest advantage I would think Diaz would have over Nico, being a better dribbler.

When we compare him to raph, he'll be better at progressing the ball down the wings through his carrying and dribbling abilities and we won't lose much in terms of expected assist, but a obvious big downgrade in terms of goals.

Question is, if playing Nico and yamal down the wingers who are more creators than scorers and moving raphinha to 9.

Will us losing lewa's 30+ goals per season affect the team or will others score more to make up the difference.(Olmo/fermin, Nico and yamal).

They all will rotate, so Lewa will get plenty of games to stat pad.
But against CL opponenet I think Raph as a CF is our best bet.

As for Nico vs Diaz, I usually refrain from using stats from two different leagues. LaLiga and PL have completely different profile of teams to accurately asses through Stats.
Comparing Nico and Raph like this is fair and accurate.

Diaz played around 14+ games as CF, carrying numbers will suffer from that. Gameplan also plays a part, Liverpool relies more on fullbacks than Bilbao, putting more weight on Nico's shoulder.

I think CF will be between Lewa and Torres exclusively when both are healthy, depending on opponents and both of them being healthy.
Same as AM, it will be Olmo and Fermin's almost exclusively, unless Fermin is sold which I think there is 40% chance it is happening in late July/early August.
The wingers will be Raphinha, Nico and Lamine, which will give Raph and Lamine 3K+ minutes, and Nico 2K+ minutes.

Raphinha as a 10 or false 9 will be used during injuries, or when we go "fuck it, bring chaos" type of sub, like the Atletico game.

With Olmo in the squad that means at least half a season. That's why I think Rapha could get a shitload of minutes at 10 with Fermin being his substitute.

For the ST I also think it will be mostly Lewa and Ferran but I would like to try out Rapha, Olmo and Fermin there too. It could work...

If Fermin takes another step in his development, and actually stays, Olmo might not be the starting 10 anyway. Fermin has a chance to make it his tbf.

That's also true and I hope it happens because we can't rely on Olmo and we won't buy any new CAM anytime soon. Rapha, Fermin and a miracle about Olmo's fitness are our best bets until we see if any of Diarra, Toni or Guile will make the next step.

Another factor is the depth in the CM/CDM together.
If Bernal comes back healthy, that is Pedri/Frenkie/Casado (the 3 that had the 2 positions last season) along Bernal and Gavi. This will give a chance for AM position to come from the CM rather than the wingers.

We are definitely over stacked in Midfield, I can't see that as a position raphinha will take up, especially given that one of our biggest issues in midfield is our inability to defend through possession from winning positions, raphinha won't help that

A fit gavi for example would address that issue more, but besides that. The numbers in that area is too high and filled with quality to play raph there

Casado, de Jong, pedri, gavi, fermin, olmo, bernal.

I agree we will have mainly a 3 man rotation on the wings, if we sign Nico, but when raphinha does change position, can't see it being anywhere but as CF.

He offers similar qualities to fermin at 10, but fermin is better at playing as an actually Midfielder should the game situation demands it.

I think the person who's minutes is most likely to be affected next season is ferran, who will still play a lot but mainly as a sub and Copa games

I’m also convinced Lamine will sooner than later slot into a #10 role like Leo did, as large a role as he already has had it undeniably will continue to increase…and he won’t be able to do that exclusively on the wing

It would also appear to align with Flick’s vision for attacking football with the trident interchangeable

I'm looking forward to seeing some positional rotations among the front 3, gets me excited for next season

Wish we could do it in Midfield as well, but as already discussed our Midfield can't do that, mainly down to olmo and less so de Jong.

But I'll settle from the front 3.

Like I just said in the transfer chat, he's been saying we need to sell a big player from day 1.

He won't settle until that happens.

But also he needs to STFU, he's trying to rattle Nico and Joan.

Madridista piece of shit

Won't happen as long as tractor is here.

Nah, he wants to do us a favor and make us sell tractor but we are too stupid to realize that.
