Nico Williams

Don Juan Laporta Estruch

Basta yaaaaaaa, Cabron ! y Bona nit 🥂
130 league games in the past 4 seasons for Bilbao. 16 goals , 20 assists.

So he averages 4 goals and 5 assists per season, for a perennial Top 4 chasing side in La Liga. That means he plays on the stronger side in around 80 percent of his games, so let's not talk about how he is struggling because of his team mates.

People will say he has improved from his first season where he got ZERO goals and ZERO assists from 34 games.

But alas, his last season was almost identical to his career average, with 5 goals and 5 assists. Somewhat worrying when the eye test seems to also confirm the same thing : That he struggles to create and score goals.

The one positive I can say is that at least he will have resale value if he flops, unlike our other LW targets that have the potential to drain us for years like Countinho, as they enter their early 30s.

Thats not exactly how it works. Bilbao scored like 50 goals this season. They rely on the defense to scratch out games. They haven't had a real 9 in who knows how long maybe since Aduritz. Bilbao relies on the Williams to do everything and Sancet. La Liga teams usually are just terrible and so having 30 goals against all season will carry them.

Look at Nico for Spain I would say he has scored more than 5 goals in the last 10 games for them. Athletic Club is just one of those clubs that is wildly different than most being unable to fill any gaps in their team.

Seeing my Rafael Leao dream wither away.

yes i know he's a deeply flawed player due to his lack of work rate and mood swings, but i like the player and have the delusional faith he will change at a team like ours
Class show that. 1994 Spider-Man TAS.

Clearly Nico regrets not having joined Barca last summer, if he sends his agent to Deco this time around. He should have exploited his hype last summer, now he has fewer reasons speaking for him to pay that much money after a bad season in Bilbao.
That said, his upsides are still there (young, spanish NT, big potential, resale value, friends with Lamine). Now Deco and Laporta need to decide if that's enough to pay a 100m+ package for him for 5-6 years. And if yes, how to include it into the ffp.

I don't think we can register him without some sales and I don't think Deco is capable of closing any sales so I'm not getting my hopes up. We won't save enough money if we pay some clubs to take Fati and MATS and there is almost no talk about selling anyone else.

It's a fair point, but look at the market. Who else do you sign? Williams to me seems like the best option. We know he is a fit because he has played well with Spain and he knows the players. He also knows the league and the country.

Then you have other options like Leao (100mil+), Rashford, Diaz etc.

They all have problems. Nico is a fit at least and at decent price. Also age is on his side.

I think he could breakthrough with Flick.

Honestly don't think he has what it takes to be world class with bunch of G/A. But could be wrong.

I don't think anyone expects him to be a world class player. We don't need a world class player. We need a sub and someone who can take pressure off from Raphinha and Yamal.

60mil isn't price for a top top player. More like Olmo type of guy. Which was perfect signing for us in the hindsight.

He is essentially a young Luiz Diaz but with potential to be better due to age.

A solid starting winger who can cause havoc with his explosiveness, in addition to actuality being smart player, but his lack of end product will hinder him from turning into elite one

We rather ship that money for gyokeres and bring perisic as rotational option.
Raph, lamine, gyokeres, ferran, lewa, perisic.

We'll need to spend 50+m on striker like next summer.

I'd like for us to assemble gala 11 first, then add aditions when we dont have pressure so that other clubs arent bullying us.
Next summer all clubs would know we need st, and price would be astronomical as always is when barca come knocking.
