There is rumour about some Basque tax that will balloon his release clausw cost north of 80M. Don't know if it is accurate info or an outdated one.
If it is the former, then yeah it doesn't make any sense to go for him as it will be an overpay and big cash investment too.
That doesn't even make any sense considering the law was changed more than half a decade ago and the player pays the buyout fee to the league who then transfers the money to the club.
I just saw that this garbage was reported by Sport which makes sense. They're frauds.
There's no tax implications here. The bigger issue for the club however is paying that much money up front.
There's a reason there's way more of such deals being made the last 5-6 years even by Spanish clubs. No more 20-40% taxes in addition to the buyout clause.
  But I agree with some of you, his close control and first touch is a little meh - if we compare to Vini it's night and day. Maybe we should look at somebody else, but we need better scouts so we pull a Vini/Rodrygo/Endrick and no more fucking scrubs like Rouque. It's actually incredible what RM have pulled on the transfer market lately, we are behind on that front...
