Probably also smarter way to do things if we can "afford to go back" in our current state IYKWIM.

Marquez took it slowly with Noah Darvich for example. Understandable as besides adapting to a new system on the pitch he also had to adapt to life in a foreign country without his familly and friends which is not easy for most 16 yo kids.

Don't need to do the same with homegrown talents like Yamal or Cubarsi who already know the club inside out but still should take a lot of responsibility of their shoulders. We shouldn't ran them to ground and be damaged goods at 20 like Ansu, Pedri, possibly Gavi and Balde. What we were doing over the last few years is not a normal or healthy way of team building. But hopefully soon we will be in a position when we could afford to protect our youngsters better and give them time to develop more naturally rather than force them to the first team and start big games so early in their careers.

And then in 2-3 years they are all sh**, not improving and similar nonsense coming from clueless usual suspects after already playing 50+ games when in a "normal" big club they would probably only be on the verge of making a first team breakthrough. And OTOH most fans also think players aged 18-19 who are not already established in the first team will never make it here.

Mika Faye is one of the big club bets for the future. The sports director, Deco, met a few days ago with his agents to extend and improve his contract, making it clear to them that he would have the number of the first team and that it was not sold or ceded despite the offers that are on the table.

Barça stopped any possibility of leaving since Deco's idea is to give him minutes and gallons with the first team in the next project.

With Xavi's continuity, it seems that Íñigo Martínez will not leave so the left-handed profile in the central position will be covered and Faye would not have minutes.
Xavi bet very hard on him to sign him and wants him in his squad, so Faye will have a hard time not only to play but to have a number.

The ideal would be to have four or a maximum of five centrals, so one of the current ones should leave to make room for Faye and at the moment it is not at all clear.

Was just saying yesterday that I feel Xavi staying may make things more difficult for Faye. This article suggests another Deco v Xavi clash that we would have avoided with Marquez.

Wouldn't be the worst decision to loan Faye for a season mind you. Plenty of clubs would be interested in that option. And even if Marquez were to be manager, I doubt Faye would see that many first team minutes regardless.

He needs definitely more playing time, a lot of big clubs want him but they want to buy him, not loaning

i would keep him, he, Cubarsi and Araujo should share the time but who knows what Xavi's plan is...

Yea Xavi seems to favor Spanish players over others.

If he's not going to play regularly they should loan him out, another year in the B team doesn't go him any good.

Maybe to girona.

Martinez and Christensen are perma crippled so would be smart to keep him.

In the end Xavi is gone 2025 so no need to speculate negatively too much.

There has been hints that Xavi is not to hot on Faye, but let's see his involvement end of season. He should get some games with the first team, but also Marquez will want him for the playoffs at some point.

My hunch says Xavi will take a liking to Olmedo.

I thought I had read that Xavi wanted to promote Faye but Marquez stopped that and instead pushed for Cubarsi.. So not sure what to believe at this moment. Interesting player for sure and I hope he gets his minutes in the first team when the time is there.

Sell Aruajo, pay a pinch of debt, play Faye. Problem solved. We need money and if we have the talent we shouldn't loan him, but use him to solve the crippling debt. We can always find a tall CB.

Atleast on loan. Xavi will likely be gone before the end of next season.

No point losing future talents over short term hinderencd.
