Marcus Rashford

IF we didn't actually need Rashford we could have played hard ball. If United gets pissed and we miss out, so be it. But we do need a back up winger, and Rashford is the best option for us on low costs. Better options could only be signed with big transfer fees.

What are you talking about, they can just send Rashford into the stands for a full season. A club that has no money and desperately needs to sell does not buy Mbeumo for 80m.

LMAOL, you have no clue right?

Sending Rashford in the stands, while he still receives 19m gross, does nothing for them.
You don't get foundational problem for them: They want to get rid of his wages...

Stands is only a good tactic against players that neither want to leave nor to renew.
Like Dembele in 2022, or FDJ before his resurrection under Flick

Mbeumo earns peanuts in wages compared to Rashford.
Another thing you still have to grasp: wages count, not transfer fees that get amortized and spread over 5 years.

He's on some ridiculous high wages, right? 15% paycut only sounds terrible. Even for Deco.

He's on like 18m so if he'll now earn 14m as Fab is saying it's more like a 25% pay cut. We don't know about performance bonuses but he was a starter for MU when signed that contract so probably linked to start like 70-80% games and score 20+ goals or smh. Both unlikely here but if he will end with that kind of production then clearly also deserves getting a million or two more.

Tbf I don't care as long as we can register him. It's a one year thing then he'll return to be a United problem but this won't ruin us longterm like a potential Diaz deal could.

It does something. Sends a messagge.

So what exactly should Deco have done for a good job? Don't transfer him? Then who else?

Force UTD to cover at least 5m gross (if not more) of his wages.
Force UTD to an even lower fee for the option to buy.

That's ABC for an SD that has ALL the leverage in the negotiations, while his counterpart has 0 leverage

Not sign Roque for starters. Not making the club look like fools in Nico saga. Don't know. Maybe signing some good player not everyone's grandma knows about. Finding a good deal somewhere? Isn't he paid to for that?
Not chasing EPL overrated players?

You don't see the future, do you?

We will exercise the option next summer, as he will kick some ass this season under Flick

Dude, BOTH the player AND the club wanted him out.

Sends a message to whom?
They wanted him out but not in any conditions. He does not move this summer with United paying him to move. Don't think so. I imagine we did try this card but United said no. That's how it usually works.

They wanted him out on ANY conditions, as long as they could get rid of EVEN a fraction of his huge wages.
You haven't followed the news at UTD the last year or so.

No, we didn't try it, because we have a clueless softie as SD.
If badass Allemany were still around, I could assure you he would force UTD to pay 50% of his wages, and make the optional transfer fee for next summer of merely symbolic value

Deco does a decent job so far. Not great, not bad. But it's true he goes after popular options. Didn't sign anyone as a surprise besides Roony dude.

We will see more about Deco when we will have money to take some chances on the market. Right now... squad still has holes in positions where it is expensive to sign.

There's no such thing as a cheaper attacker than Rashford that could make a difference for us. People that moan about this have no alternatives, they just like to moan.

 OK, mate... we could have gotten him with United paying him 9m to play someplace else. Whatever floats your boat.

Maybe 50% is a stretch, but them playing 25% is bare minimum.

Rich Aston Villa made UTD pay 25% last spring.

Don't whitewash Deco's incompetence

Yes, and this time it would have been harder to make this deal. United still hope to cash in on him. They can't loan him until the end of the contract.

His wage at United is 19m as you said, and we pay 14m and some bonuses that we don't know how much and how hard it is for them to be triggered.

It is a good deal for us. Sure maybe we could have saved a bit more in wages, but nothing major. His wages would still have been pretty high since he comes for free with no loan cost.
