Marc Bartra

I think it's BS that Mathieu having just returned from surgery gets picked over Bartra who had played well recently when given chance, at the Camp Nou.

Oh well.

Lucho isn't really interested in developing younger players. Even Roberto emerged just because there was literally noone else to play.

But why are we looking for a younger CB and why are we bringing back Denis?
Maybe Lucho just doesn´t rate him like most People on the Forum and knows that he will leave anyway.

Lucho is really stubborn too like Pep was, and if he doesn't rate a player or has fallen out with one, then he won't play him unless he has to.

As simple as that.

We've always been on the hunt for a younger CB. Our CB signings ended up being Mathieu and Vermaelen.

Denis isn't a player who needs developing anymore. He's a key member of Villareal's squad who we can get for cheap, and he is wanted in spite of his age, not because of it.

Yeah, thats my theory too. Seems to be the same with transfers too. Chygrynskiy or no one was Pep's message. While Lucho want the players he watches in La Liga like Arda and Vidal. His way or the highway it seems.

It's not some vendetta against the youth that Bartra isn't in the team - he's had chances and it hasn't gone well enough. Mathieu has been a reliable back-up under his tenure, so why wouldn't he pick him? We all want the next La Masia kid to make it big, but we shouldn't force it either.

Bartra has had plenty of opportunities ditto Munir and Sandro. This is Barcelona. You take your opportunities or sit on the bench.

Bartra isn't very good under pressure either and all our games are make or break now.

I think in this case it was okay to pick Mathieu. The guy sacrificed his meniscus to be available this summer so it is justified to give him some playing time.
Tough for Bartra but understandable.
