ETH is the only coach who can have 200m+ to spend and can't show a proper return for it lol.

If you give this coach 250m to spend, he should be able to make a big change.

Another thing is that all these players I mentioned are relatively young, and need a stable environment to excel.

It's almost impossible to show out in a toxic environment unless you are a generational talent.

Add 40m for Chevalier then.

Pay Garnacho the remaining 10m to fuck off somewhere.

Although even in this hypothetical exercise all these players have been linked to clubs such as Real Madrid, Man City, Bayern, Barca, PSG.

Why would they go to Man Utd?

Because its Man Utd.

I think outside of the obvious names that will go to Champions League clubs ahead of United like Wirtz and Frimpong though, that they could build a top side.

It's been years since they had a world class striker and a world class productive wideman for example.

In hindsight we done a marvelous job that Summer of Raphinha and Lewandowski was the correct move.

It is definitely possible if they have one amazing transfer window.

Although they need the right people in charge there, and also an environment making it possible for the players they sign to excel and work in peace.

They have a lot of things to work out.

Ajax will love him forever after selling those bums for 400mil plus I guess. DeJong, Antony, DeLigt, DeBeek etc etc

Outside of Ferguson and Busby they've never been a top team though. This last decade is more representative of most of their history than those two great coaches spells were.

This is their new normal. They're finished I think.

I am 43. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't win the league again by the time I am 63.

Antony is a very good player. Der Beek not so much.

ETH problem was not focusing on the profiles that made himself successful, and looking for world class versions of them. And instead going to his inferior club and buying those exact players

That never works well unless you bring along the star player or a system player to inherit the change.

I was going to say ETH destroyed the team worse than the plane crash. But that would have been in bad taste.

And now you made me say it. Thanks. I hope you are proud of yourself.

Lol I am one of those guys who really doesn't like that sort of bad taste humour generally, so I am deeply ashamed of myself for provoking it

ETH problem was signing his buddies and not players who he needed for the PL. Antony isn't physically good enough for PL, same VanDebeek same with DeLigt. Okay sorry for mistyping but you get the point.

Sign players who fit the profile of the league and the team. ETH thought he could bring over anyone from Ajax and make success in the PL. It was a huge mistake.

Their biggest problem is their players are poor to average technically, physically/athletically and tactically.

They can talk about 'effort', 'bad apples', 'the culture of the club', the Glazers, all they like. It's all just smoke and mirrors and deflection for the fact that the vast majority of their players just aren't very good at playing football (at the elite level of the game). They make constant mistakes - poor touches, can't run, lose headers and 50/50 duels, beaten and skinned by wide men, misplace passes, miss chances at goal, make mistakes in goal, don't track runners. None of that is down to the Glazers.

Until they get far more talented, higher IQ players and - crucially - players who can evade the press and aren't suited to the club's ethos (counter-attacking football) they'll struggle.

They're like an unsophisticated 90s team and club playing in 2025. Still trying to do the same things that worked then - balls over the top, constant counter attack, crossing relentlessly.

Basic.

And it's been this way for many years.

ETH probably had a cut of the agent fees. Some Dutch human trafficking going on can be the only explanation for so many duds.
