But is Barca DNA still outdated to you though?
Barca DNA is good.

But with the right mental approach.

In the past we were mentally weak.
This season we were mentally strong and fighters.

But we were overconfident at the end of the season.
Plus, we had a (less important) CDR final right before Inter.
We won against Real, lost a lot of motivation, got too cocky and we weren't at 120% vs Inter.

Paired with some naive, rookie decisions by Yamal and Cubarsi.

So, Barca DNA is good, as long as we are evolving.
But we still aren't perfect on the mental level.

Trophies aren't won in April or vs Real Madrid.
Trophies are won in May, after 38 rounds or after 94 minutes.

Vitinha breaking it down simply with rio.

"A 6 can be an 8, a 8 can be a 10, a 10 can be a 6"

Some think anyone but Pedri in our midfield is capable of this, lol, yeah, "okay".

He also noted how they evolved from last season, where they were much more positionally disciplined than this season.

He's right, because last season I saw none of this when I watched them, which is why I was never particularly impressed.

It was just brutal pace and pressing; this season they added technical ability and positional rotation to that.

It will be interesting to see how Flick evolves next season, or will it be more of the same?.

PSG play nothing like Pep/Xavi teams who were supposed to represent Barca DNA.

If Pep had won CL again playing with four centerbacks, slow possession, no pacy wingers, and Haaland up front, that would be hailed as a victory for Barca DNA, yet Lucho doing it with fullbacks attacking like forwards at times, incisive attacking, tons of pace on the wings, and Dembele playing false 9 is supposed to be Barca DNA as well.
Lucho said it before he represented Barca DNA, spirit... Go on.

All thing above are just Barca DNA.

22/23 City were less Barca, Pep's City that represented most Barca DNA (or Pep's football) were from 2017-2020 (or maybe even 2022, before they got Haaland).

The base template will be the same with some tweaks, depending on players available. I don't think Flick is the type to change his football drastically. He will introduce some variations but his concept of attacking football with high pressure and intensity will remain.

Doubt he would return for a second stint but I would prefer him if Flick left.

On the other hand this team would suit him well not having to cater to amigos.

He already said (i think last year) that he would love to return if it happens that he is out of a job and Barca is looking for a manager in the same moment. It'll happen in a few years.

If anybody ever asks you the meaning of sportwashing just show them this thread and the recent conversations in the media about PSG and its owners.

They get a guy you like (Enrique), throw their oil money at the most exciting young talent in the world and play some cute football. And now everybody is fawning over how they built this team. Sportwashing 101.

I'd rather finish second every season than win with the PSG/City model. People know how much I hate United but I certainly respect them a lot more than City or PSG. Atleast they're a real big club.

Ofcourse, I know every big club has some shady involvements in their history but this is too direct and in-your-face.

Can't wait till Paris FC rises and whoops their ass.

Why aren't more people acknowledging the massive budget he has at PSG?

The bootlicking media is trying to spin this as an organic, romantic process and a win for the sport. They're still throwing money around. Just copying the City model this time lmao.

Not sure if these are the exact figures but you get the point.

I have been saying this all along. Just cause PSG didn't win with Mbappe or Haaland the media is acting like they built their team from the academy and young talent bought on the cheap. Fact is they've spent huge money and will continue to do so.
Lucho, like Pep is a great coach but needs a huge transfer budget to make his football work. If they were at Barca this season they would struggle.

What Flick has achieved this season with this budget and squad depth is absolutely crazy.

Manager of the season easily.

PSG's net spend over last 5 years is 580m. And they've really only spent big in summer 2023 when they started this rebuild.

For comparision Arsenal (556m) and Spurs (571m) have similar net spend over same period. United's is 690m and then ofc Chelsea 935m way ahead.

So while they've spend a lot they've also spend smart/on the right players (ofc also some flops but they've hit with most signings).

They have finally started to put the team ahead of individual stars. Nasser has let football people (Luis Campos and Lucho) do their jobs. (Something that Sheikh Mansour did in City from the beggining. Txiki and then Pep when he joined had sporting decisions in their hands.)

They were putting no pressure on Lucho like you have to win the CL this year or you're gone as they've done with coaches in the past. It was actually Lucho (knowing he's a winner that's not surprising) who expected that from himself. He never cared about Ligue 1. When they've won it last season he didn't celebrate and took no pictures with a trophy. He went there to win the CL and now he delivered. He would not touch that team if they would still have Messi, Ney and Mbappe. He was also relieved when Mbappe left while sheiks and fans were crying.

So that's what most people (including me) give them credit for. On a sporting level they are now finally runned like a professional football club.

What's behind it's another story.

Well said, especially the bit about Enrique and the league title yesterday.

He went there with one objective and told the entire world, we will do it, once a few key things happened and he delivered.

Yes they have forwards for over 150m that are on the bench and being loaned out, not many other clubs can do that.

But if you look at the Starting XI yesterday not many high priced signings relatively speaking and a young core.

The issue for them will be how to you remain competitive in Europe while not having any competition domestically.

Though they have gotten to two finals and 2 SF in like the last 5/6 years, so it's definitely do able.

They likey won't go on to be some dynasty, that's unrealistic, but they will be there or there about for the foreseeable future, bar one or two slips.

I just hope he doesn't so some pep and stay in the oil for too long.
