PSG's net spend over last 5 years is 580m. And they've really only spent big in summer 2023 when they started this rebuild.

For comparision Arsenal (556m) and Spurs (571m) have similar net spend over same period. United's is 690m and then ofc Chelsea 935m way ahead.

So while they've spend a lot they've also spend smart/on the right players (ofc also some flops but they've hit with most signings).

They have finally started to put the team ahead of individual stars. Nasser has let football people (Luis Campos and Lucho) do their jobs. (Something that Sheikh Mansour did in City from the beggining. Txiki and then Pep when he joined had sporting decisions in their hands.)

They were putting no pressure on Lucho like you have to win the CL this year or you're gone as they've done with coaches in the past. It was actually Lucho (knowing he's a winner that's not surprising) who expected that from himself. He never cared about Ligue 1. When they've won it last season he didn't celebrate and took no pictures with a trophy. He went there to win the CL and now he delivered. He would not touch that team if they would still have Messi, Ney and Mbappe. He was also relieved when Mbappe left while sheiks and fans were crying.

So that's what most people (including me) give them credit for. On a sporting level they are now finally runned like a professional football club.

What's behind it's another story.

Bottom line. Lucho wouldn't have the financial and institutional freedom he has at PSG. That's why these oil clubs are such a magnet for Pep and Lucho. You could see Lucho was seriously burnt out when he left Barca. Media, amigos and entorno had him spent. He looks much more relaxed at PSG cause he can control alot more.
