Even his biggest detractors here will concede he is capable of this. The problem is it's a 1 in 10 game thing, and the other 25 dribbles he has like that, end up with him making a poor pass or weak shot at the end of it. Exactly the same with Leao, Nico etc.

Which is what sums him up to a tee actually. And why he is not a player for a top top club, which Liverpool themselves have realised in them being okay with him leaving.

People will laugh at the Perisic rumours, but out of all the wingers we've been linked to, I'd want him on the end of a dribble like that. Much much more consistent and nuanced on the ball in dangerous areas.
That's a good point. His problem isn't talent - he is capable of doing great things on his day. The problem is his day doesn't come anywhere near enough.

A few fleeting amazing moments don't compensate for all the times he drifts in and out of games. Same goes for the others as you say.

Most attacking players can do something special here and there - most professional attackers are gifted to varying levels after all, because that's why they are pros at the top level of the game anyway. What makes the best the best is doing it over and over again, repeating it, being consistent. That (and more talent too to be honest) Is why Salah is better than Diaz for Liverpool. Diaz can do some of the sublime things Salah has done - but he cannot do it anywhere near as often as Salah does.

That's also (as much as I hate him) what makes Ronaldo a great player - he doesn't have (even in his prime) as many magical moments as Messi, or anywhere close. But we was capable of great moments. And as he got into his thirties he mastered the art of doing the mundane or the 'normal' on a very regular basis. Other top players can do what he can - just not as much as he can. Plenty would argue this post 30s Ronaldo ability to regularly sniff out tap ins and headers is more impressive than doing something magical once in a blue moon like a Diaz does, and I would agree.

At some point, quantity matters more than quality, if quality is scarcely demonstrated. Quality only matters if it comes with a degree of quantity too. With Messi both come in spades, but someone like Diaz doesn't offer enough 'quantity of quality'.

Since I have been watching more Pool games the last 4 seasons than all in here, bar Temptation, I can tell you most are off in your assessments:

- He is not similar to Nico: Nico wants open space, gets easily blocked when facing tight defenses, and back passes only. Diaz, on the other hand, is great at getting past his man even in small spaces. That's the no1 characteristic a Barca winger should have. Currently, only Lamine has that

- He is not similar to Leao: Leao is better at dribbling than all, but he is super lazy off the ball and inconsistent. Diaz, on the contrary, is a trooper and works his ass off the ball hunting defenders. For Flickball that is essential.

Actually Diaz and Rashford are the first decent targets Deco come up in his tenure as SD. Funny thing he gets all kina shit for them.

PS: I think Pool are not interested in selling bar an 'over the market' ludicrous price like 100m or so. It is evident in the way they responded in our first offer. He has 2 years left, we don't have negotiating power in this situation.
If I were Deco, I would walk and sign Rashford on loan with low buy option, and half of his high wages covered by United

Birdie told us something, everyone knows already lol.

That's what 4 years thought him.

Everyone figured that out in 3 games, if you watched those 3.

The problem with Luis Diaz is that:

1. Liverpool don't want to sell.
2. He seem indifferent to staying or leaving.
3. No one want to pay the 80m+ for player that will be 29 next season which Liverpool will demand if they actually change their mind later.

He was definitely our first target due to the fact they thought they could get him for around that 60 mil mark.

But Liverpool have laid waste to that plan by asking for 80m

Like I and many have said, he will be good for us, I think he'll be more than good.

But I still don't want that signing, the age profile is not right.

But I'll support him, if he's signed.

I watch his games with Pool a lot ever since his signing. I'm Colombian so I like to keep tabs on our players, and while I would love to see him at Barca and think he would fit well and will give us that profile of player that we lack on the left, in no way should we pay more than 50mil for him.

Dont get me wrong, he is really good, but as has been said here already, he's going to be 29 and we'd be overpaying if the price is 70m+

Correct, apart from 2.
He wants to come. His dad has confessed so at some unsuspected time in the past.
Of course, now, he won't say something publicly, because he wants to renew with Pool if he doesn't come to Barca

Signing 3 years too late, I heard he had a bad season for Liverpool. So it would be a very bad decision to sign him, also I don’t want us to fund another good Liverpool era…
