Lionel Messi - v7

He score the penalty in 1st leg. He's ok at this exercise anyway. I don't care he miss sometime. There's onky him, with that goal for example who can offer some treats to the supporters.

His penalty conversion rate is around 78%, he is a good penalty taker (I think Ronaldo, who is a specialist, is around 80%). Yesterday was more about mind games, he had to chose either to go same way as first leg (which Navas guessed right but couldn't save) or go opposite side, but Navas read his intentions.

Navas was also saved by the post. He got really luck.. Twice for that matter.

He hit the ball with the outside of his foot which means he tried to really make it look like he was going for the other corner with the inside of his foot. He scored one like that before. I think navas just decided beforehand he was going that way and nothing would change his mind

This will sound as cheering for Cr7, but Cr7 is better at panalties in key moments.

CR7 has 83.3% of penalties converted and Messi has 77.9%.

But also, Messi missed more penalties in key matches, under pressure.
For example:
2012 vs Chelsea
2015 vs City
2016 Copa America final vs Chile
2018 World cup vs Iceland 1:1, group stage, an opening match
2021 vs Psg

Or more from domestic KO matches:
2008 Cdr vs Villareal
2008 Cdr vs Benidorm
2011 Cdr vs Betis
2012 Cdr vs Valencia
2014 Spanish super cup vs Atletico
2015 Cdr vs Atletico
2018 Cdr vs Espanyol

Cr7 missed 2 pens in 2008 for Man Utd against Barca and Chelsea.
Since he moved to RM, he missed only 3 important pens:
2012 against Bayern
2016 on Euros, group stage, vs Austria
2018 WC vs Iran, group stage

Domestic KO matches:
2020 Italian cup vs Milan

Since CR7 turned into robotic self, he missed only 4 key pens in 12-13 years.
And he missed only 1 key pen in a CL and he scored tens of those, isn't it?

So, it is evident that in penalties and especially in KO matches under pressure, CR7 is way more reliable.

Here is a list of all their penalty misses:

I agree with you, Messi is a very good penalty kicker but Ronaldo is a specialist in this area.

do you have anything positive to say in any of your posts ?

While CR7 is a better PK taker than Messi, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE how BBZ "I only care about CL and national trophies and not mickey mouse cups" pulled up pen stats from CDR and super cup matches to manufacture a larger gap because:

1) The data from CL and national teams shows that Messi has missed 5 important penalties...which is the same amount CR7 has missed. LMAO. So he had to do digging in CDR and super cup.

This is why I absolutely dislike BBZ's agenda driven "statistics". Would never make it past a single peer review in actual scientific practice, this lad.

The only two important pens which Messi missed in his career were the one against Chelsea 2012 and the one in 2016 against Chile even though i think they would have lost even if Messi scored

When I write about a player, I write complaints.

If I don't write about someone, that means that I support them.
For example, I don't write bad (or anything) about Koeman, Laporta, usually Frenkie, Moriba, Pedri, Pique, Dest, Araujo, Mingueza, Coutinho.

I don't write posts like: wow, so good. An awesome match and similar posts.

About Messi, I won't hide: I am disappointed by him with 1 CL in the last 10 years.
He is king of La Liga, but he has let me down or gone MIA too many times in KO matches.

He disappointed me again yesterday with that quite horrible PK shot.
If a goal has left/center/right side, that shot was on a verge of left and central area.

That was quite a horrible PK for a supposed Goat trying to win his last CL in a career.
I know, he scored a wondergoal before that, but still...

He is praising CR7 in that post though

giphy.gif

in THAT post ?

In post about Messi and Ronaldo he's always shitting on Messi and prising CR.

I don't care about penalty conversion rate.
It doesn't make anyone dream.
But goals outside the box ratio, that is what hint to a special player. Messi has far more than CR7 but also in 150 fewer games.
