Seen you sort of advocate for this 10 team Liga several times now. It will never happen (as you know but it's obvious you feel it's a good idea).

Top leagues do need more teams than that, even if logistically half the size of the current division would be better. Also, how would you even get to that point? You'd need to relegate about half the league in one season, or even build up to it in small increments. Plus there would be uproar from so many clubs.

Do you believe it could work really well if it was logistically possible to get to it?

Yeah it's completely impossible but he keeps mentioning it so I am intrigued to find out how he thinks it could work.

That's a non starter, no way that can work or should even be considered.

What's this Scotland.

The Spanish domestic TV deal is about 5B over 5 years and international it's about another 2B.

Those numbers can be verified with a quick Google search.

It will increase with the next contract, even if we account for Madrid and Barca getting a larger share of the TV rights, that's more than enough money to maintain a 20 team league, but 18 would be ideal to give the lower level teams more income.

But 10 teams ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚, you'll cut the TV rights deal in half as well because it's less games

So we will be in the same situation we are now, at least with around 18, you can negotiate around the same number as you would with 20 teams, argue you'll get 4 less games, but an improvement in quality.

What are you doing to tell them with 10 teams? ๐Ÿ˜‚

I agree with you fully. I am just curious why Jammy (the other jammy) keeps mentioning it. I had never seen anyone say that about La Liga before.

Rather than have 10 teams, you just need 10 out of 18/20 that can consistently sign decently.

Part of what sells the EPL is the new signings buzz. Nobody in the US or Asia gives a fuck about Burnley, Forest (last year) or Wolves (generally). But they do care about 100m+ each of these teams spend to improve their teams every year, where the FC26 generation is more about shiny new toys/names first and then clubs second. Or in the case of Nottingham Forest, missing out on the CL and spending fookin 234m  .

Nobody gives a fuck about penny pinching Getafe surviving year after year all these years. But what they do give a fuck about now is Brighton, Brentford and Bournemouth who through their immense scouting buy and play top quality players every year.

Nobody cares about Uche sending in scouting videos from Africa and getting signed up by a lowly Spanish club and eventually making it to LaLiga a year later. But they care about Uche, the 20m signing, who got into LaLiga by sending his YouTube videos to Spain from Africa, that Crystal Palace has now signed.

That is the difference, and that is why the tv rights are so high to support this transfer system in the UK, which sells the product through big signings that sells the clubs.

Maybe LaLiga are getting there by 2030, maybe we are not. I don't know, next 5 years will speak alot about where LaLiga and indeed club football is going. But as of today outside of Barca/Madrid (and even then Barca can't currently sign and are surviving thanks to Flickball + Lamine exploding), LaLiga has lost one of it's previous KSP, the display of the top South American talents. And even if they weren't, like Matias Fernandez and Saviola, they were being signed as if they were with fees that supported that perception.

10 teams would be far better and for money spread but unlikely can make happen unless a larger European Super League takes off.

It doesnt even up with 10 teams being popular unless on level of EPL which will never be.

It would still be far less viewership and spread across more teams.

The difference is the popularity of the teams in EPL across the board and La Liga will never compete with that.

To make out with 10 teams would 'cut the tv deal in half' is complete and utter lack of understanding of what is being paid for by broadcasters on these tv deals.

It would not do that in the slightest.

The issue with Nico might run deeper than Barca's salary cap, I'm afraid. For a second season in a row this kid rejects Barca. I sense something political. Recently Barca registered big transfers, despite the notion of us being limited financially.
HIs agent and his family used immense pressure on him. His family is deeply rooted in Bilbao and all his agent's players only play for Bilbao. I'm pretty sure Bilbao pays him a bonus for convincing players to join or stay with them. It's not easy to withstand months of pressure from you closest circle.
Wouldn't surprise me, if he starts to blame them in a few years for pressuring him in staying now.

The LaLiga can definitely increase its reach. Revenues would grow too, because of that. They are absolutely shit at this.

In India, last year we had an "official app" where they were supposed to stream, no you cant find it on a tv channel. And almost all the games I tried to watch there didn't even start streaming until like 5-10min into the game. No one was able to watch classic because the whole app was down for the first half of the match. You are forced to watch pirated streams.

India is a huge market if they could capitalise. But no. Same can be said about a lot of Asian countries.

Heard in Germany you can only watch it on DAZN. WTF is that about?

No wonder, the league is so shit.
