Deco and Laporta, I implore you to please look at this guy and go for him this summer.
We need a GK. He can be bought for a cheapish price.

Please ship either Stegen or Tek. We need a GK asap.

Is the goal prevented based on xG or "post shot xG"

According to football reference (they quote opta) his Post shot xG - goals conceded is 8.3, which is the top in La Liga and 8th in Europe top 5 leagues.

When you adjust it to per 90 minutes, to remove data being skewed to those played more games, he come as 10th in Europe and still top in Liga.
Lucas Chevalier also has identical numbers. he is one who we are linked to. Svilar from Roma is doing slightly worse but his numbers is still great
Yahia Fofana and Yehvann Diouf also Savic who is now linked to City. All 3 would be bargains.

However, the list is skewed heavily to players from the 2nd half of the table. Same with saving percentage, they face far more shots, even more difficult ones, that give them a chance to make numbers looks better.
This is why Chevalier and Svilar numbers are most impressive to me, they are both outstanding with teams fighting for CL spots. Bulka is another name that is fairly doing well in competitive team and is FA in 2026

Other Stats:
Passing numbers are difficult to assess, but between all aforementioned GoalKeepers, Garcia & Fofana are actually doing the best among good shoot stoppers.

Another one that depends on the style of play, is crosses claimed. If judging by percentage, again Garcia & Fofana are the standouts.

Sweeping is another one, with our own Pena and Tek being by far top 2, Pena is averaging 6.13 sweeping actions per 90 minutes, while 3rd name in the list is at 2.71, shows how our style is affecting it. Garcia comes first but barely in the top 60, whoever comes will have to learn to do it.

Now, take a look at last year numbers

Garcia is nowhere to be found in the shot stopping numbers, Fofana was in 2nd division so no data, Diouf numbers are underwhelming, Bulka and Svilar are doing well but below current season.

The one consistent is Lucas Chevalier who was putting similar number to this season while playing in a team that qualified to the CL. It is also notable he kept consistent performer in CL this season himself.

The TLDR version:
Garcia is having a World Class season and one of the best in Europe and I understand the appeal to get him considering he is having a decent buyout clause, he is Catalan who already plays in the City and knows the league. While being fairly young, but not a prospect, and have good height.

However, I think Lucas Chevalier should be the number one target. He is amazing GK whom whatever you say about Joan, he is similar, but more proven, more consistent, he is Barca fan too.

Bulka and maybe Fofana are worth looking at as potential Free agents in 2026, so likely even more cost friendly. Svilar is another very good and proven option, however unlikely to make sense due to cost.

Insightful posts, guys.

All of a sudden numerous seemingly solid options on the market at affordable prices. Think our best hope is some of they stay and we make our move in 2026.

I don’t see either Tek or Mats leaving, and with Mats here it would be hard to get either even if Tek retires. With the relationship he maintains with the club.

I think we should do what Liverpool did with Mamardashvili. Sign a GK and leave him on loan at his current club or just make a future transfer for 2026. Should probably decrease his price a bit too.

Unlikely with Garcia though. More possible Madrid will buy and leave him at Espanyol until 2027 like I've seen reported.

Such will even be seen as a committment thus a liability hittting your finacces immediately
and worsening your FFP anyways.

I also doubt Espanyol will discount the price by much because of this to make it worth the committment. The player's profile is rising by the day, why commit to a future contract without the cash flow when you could get more with cash slightly later. They are not in la liga to do Barca any favours even though they are Catalonians too.

Liverpool has one of the best goalkeepers in their team, we have two who barely qualify for our second keeper. Totally different situation.

We'll let Garcia go to another top club and extend MATS for another 5 years, we know how this club works.

Agree.
I havent looked at Lucas. I will.
I just really want us to go for a new GK. I had enough of us playing with Mats
If Lucas is anything similar and cost similar, we should just pounce on him. Be done with it.
My only problem with Lucas is he plays in the French league, and after all these years of us getting burnt by them french players. I just dont want us to risk again. LOL

It depends on the writing of the contract. It isn't necessarily be loan but being bought from the start of certain date. He will count from the season the sale counted on. So, if we agree with Espanyol to but him from 2026, it is counted against FFP from 2026/2027 season.

In case of Garcia, Espanyol has low buyout clause, they can't get more than 20M for him, or 30M if he plays with NT.

So, for them they get the money and another year from their GK, versus getting same money and lose him now.

But, Espanyol has no reason to negotiate with Barca, if such a deal is made from our side it will be with someone else.

No bro, there is no way you would word a contract that has a commitment in it that it will not be seen as a liability. FFP considers liabilities that is why the deferred salaries of players are considered when computing the spending caps by La liga. La liga spending caps take into consideration all your revenues( now and the future) and your expenses(now and the future). You can read that up for further guidance.

Without going into technical details, the Financial standards(IFRS1) defines a liability as any commitment to a future cash outflow. That is why a Redeemable preference shares of a company is seen as a debt instead of an equity for the same company even though the date to redeem the shares may be open ended or may never happen. So long as Barca makes a commitment to pay a certain amount in the contract, it is a debt. it will impact FFP(amount Barca can spend generally) immediately.

So that option is a dead end unless Barca somehow runs into a jackpot soonest. Even with that, it doesn't look like a new keeper is a priority for the board going by recent developments.

Why would he go to Madrid, Curtuois is still young for GK and in my opinion best GK in the world.

He woukd be great here, concidering Tek and Ter Stegen.

Best option is to get rid of Ter Stegen and Pena, leave Tek for season or two and sign Garcia.
