Benvingut, Joan!

Scouting Report

Started his football career as a goalkeeper in local youth teams. Early development took place in the youth ranks of Vinaròs CF before shifting to CD Castellón to further nurture his talent. Recognizing his potential, he joined Asspanyol’ youth academy.

García continued to develop his technical and tactical skills, rapidly becoming a star prospect in their junior system. His poise under pressure, superb reflexes, and shot-stopping abilities drew the attention of coaches, earning him opportunities to play for Asspanyol’ B squad.

García obtained competitive experience in Spain’s lower levels while playing for the B squad. His performances demonstrated maturity above his years, paving the path for his promotion to the first team. His progression from a potential youth prospect to a professional goalkeeper demonstrates dedication and the value of a solid developmental foundation.

He has played for Spain’s national youth teams, demonstrating his potential as a great goalkeeper. His journey began with the U16s and continued through the U17, U19, and U21 levels, demonstrating his constant advancement.
His participation in the 2019 UEFA European Under-19 Championship winning squad was a highlight of his career. Despite not being the first-choice goalkeeper, his involvement indicated his willingness to contribute to a winning squad.

His strong performances at the U21 level showcased his swift reflexes, coolness under pressure, and defensive leadership. His contributions were critical to Spain’s sustained success in European youth games. García’s technical abilities and mental toughness make him a promising candidate for Spain’s senior national squad.

A key member of his team’s defensive setup, Joan García is a superb goalie known for his quickness, poise, and quick reactions. His ability to make crucial stops, particularly in one-on-one situations, is demonstrated by his continuously high save percentage, which frequently turns games in his team’s favour.

García’s ability to keep the defence organized and focused during high-pressure games is further demonstrated by his record of clean sheets. García is a contemporary goalie who is excellent at distributing the ball and making short- and medium-range passes with exceptional precision, which enables him to efficiently build plays from the back.

Even when opponents apply intense pressure, his ability to remain composed under duress guarantees that he stays accurate and composed. Additionally, he has a high success rate in aerial duels and is a dependable presence during set pieces due to his exceptional timing and decision-making in aerial scenarios.

García’s ability to read the game is one of his best qualities; it allows him to foresee dangers and position himself to block goals. He regularly produces amazing saves in crucial situations because to his exceptional reflexes. García is a vital member of his squad and a major contributor to their success because of these attributes as well as his disciplined style and leadership at the back.

With the ball at his feet, García is extremely skilled, which reflects the need for a goalkeeper to be the first line of attack in the current game. He can connect with defenders and start controlled build-up play because of his accurate short- and medium-range passing.

García’s capacity to maintain composure in the face of intense pressure guarantees that his judgment stays clear. He is excellent at keeping possession, whether it is by finding wide players with precise side-footed deliveries or by making fast, low-risk passes. His awareness and vision also enable him to spot openings for counterattacks, yet his long-range distribution, while efficient, might use some more honing for more reliability.

The Spaniard also has exceptional spatial awareness off the ball. His ability to read the game allows him to position himself to intercept through balls and limit opponents’ shooting angles. He is a great sweeper-keeper because he can confidently step off his line, frequently removing danger outside the penalty area.

Using his aerial timing to claim crosses and lessen threats, García assertively commands his box in set-piece situations. He is a dependable and aggressive goalie because of these off-ball attributes, as well as his quick reflexes and outspoken presence. One of football’s most promising young goalkeepers, Joan García excels in crucial situations by combining quick reflexes, agility, and poise under duress.

He is a natural-born goalkeeper who excels in one-on-one play and uses superior positional awareness to neutralize opponents, and who has exceptional on-ball skills, including accurate short- and medium-range passing that allows him to successfully start build-up play. Off the ball, García is a proactive presence who can command his area and step in as a sweeper-keeper when necessary thanks to his game-reading abilities and anticipation.

His dependability under duress is further increased by his aerial timing and authority during set pieces. Although his long-range distribution appears promising, he would have more impact if he were more consistent in this area, especially when launching counterattacks. García is in a good position to become one of the best goalkeepers of his time because of his technical skill, tactical awareness, and poise.

He might not want to join us, as he is an Espanyol player with options in European elites.
Barca doesn't seem bothered about GK again, sadly.
But we were connected to him, and we are close to his agent.

MD reporting he's one of the GKs the club is looking at. They want a GK that's 1.90 or taller, young, good in the air vs. crosses/corners and have experience and will prioritize shot-stopping over distribution with feet.

Marca and a couple of other outlets also reporting Barca told his agent to keep them informed of any bids he receives in the summer.

Same agent of Olmo and Faye, which is probably why we have interest in him (or why we are being used to raise his profile).

That might indeed be the case, but I have a feeling they'll look to replace ter Stegen by summer of 2026 at the latest considering his age when he'll be 34 + constant injuries.
If Tek renews they prob run it back with him + ter Stegen for another year unless Espanyol are relegated and Garcia is available for cheap and they actually really like him.

They won't do us any favours. 30m release clause iirc. They'd sell cheaper to other clubs reportedly.

Having a amazing season. Is the reason Asspanyol not in a relegation battle.

Definetly leaves for a big club next season, probably EPL.
But we have the Terrorist so we dont have to worry about it.:poop::mats:
