Arsenal defend nothing like Barcelona, if pressing is what is the link, then everyone defenders like Barcelona and flick.

Our defense like last season he good, until someone pushes us in the mouth, then it falls apart

Arsenal have their whole team in the other teams half when attacking, same principle but different attacking intent.

They overload the opponents half to force fouls, corners and throw ins to create set piece opportunities for goals.

We overload the opponents half to force goalscoring opportunities.

The difference is the style, so our turnovers are more likely to be dangerous for us. Plus we, have not been pressing as intentively as them to recover possession.

DECO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You see how much better defensively we gotten because of Big Joan? Like everyone was saying it would.

Now listen to the Same & Flick, get him Shlotterbeck and see us winning everything under the sun until Flick leaves this club.

If Schloterbeck is not happening, then it has to be Senesi + Tall RCB (like Konate)

Either you choose.

Our results are as good as they were around 2008 - 2012 on paper. We're at 49 points halfway through the season, meaning that we are on course for 98 points and over 100 goals scored. That's with no clear starting #9 (Lewa old, Torres hot and cold), Yamal not in top shape and Rafinha only recently back from injury.

Anyone told me we'd be here so soon after Messi left I would have laughed. I don't expect any team in the world to waltz all over us right now. I don't think we can ask for much more than what we're doing at the moment.

Well defending certainly has improved, and that's what people wanted to see. No matter which way

Now the only question is will it be improved in big games, where we need it most. Because last season we were conceding less in the league too after new year. But then UCL semis came and we conceded 7 over 2 legs

The next big transfer we make for good money that is not in defense... this is truly on Deco. But until then you can never be sure about anything.

Since 2023, the single biggest transfer we made that we paid good money on (good for our broke ass level) was Joan Garcia. Need to be patient with Deco. I am frustrated as well, but let's not lose context here.

Short term deals for cheap are not how you land a top tier defender. But scouting is, we have to be able to land the next name that is able to make a jump to a highly rated defender in a short time. I want us to be able to sign some top tier defender for 30-40m. Not fucking names paraded around on Sport and Mundo Deportivo. Overrated expensive signings like Bastoni, Romero, or whatever name come up with on those sites. Those are not feasible for us.

An actual proper signing for 20-40m that is 21-23 years of age, from a more unknown club, that is a hit. If we make that happen, and factor in Joan Garcia, then Deco is a big hit as well, not only Flick.

Deco has 3 positions to sign on, and he needs to prioritize those properly. It's CB, DM, no9. Out of those, the most pressing should be without a single doubt CB. If we sign any other player on an expensive deal and that player is not a CB then I will lose my shit.

I make a list of players we signed for serious money, and most of them so far are either hits, good deals, or decent players.

No proper flops under Laporta. Some players I'm not fully happy on, but they could in no way be considered flops.

Ya. Feel the same.

For me, I don't even think we need to spend money on a transfer next summer.
Plenty of free agents who are pretty good in the CB position. Senesi is one of them. Maybe Konate. But I doubt we'll be able to do both in one window.
The same can be said about the Fullbacks. Mingueza, Vitaliy. Heck, even Cancelo would do.

We have to fix the defence first, with good players. Only then should Deco look for others like ST/CF or a midfielder.

Thing with free agents is there are two types, free agents by choice, and the others.

The first type will be expensive signings despite the free agent position. That player knows he is valuable, knows he will have options, and expects a big contract to set him for life. The 2nd type is easier to get, but the quality of the player in question is usually much lower.

Players discarded by other teams for nothing are almost always problematic in at least one key area, be it injuries, lack of discipline, old age, low IQ, not much value, or any combination of those factors.

We are not in the position to land those premium free agents either. So when we sign a free agent, it's usually the cheaper kind.

Populistic horseshit, game stats say otherwise. People just love to repeat it, because 1-2 dangerous counter-attacks against a high-line burn into their minds, as well as many offsides, who look dangerous, but are meaningless, because that's the tactic to provoke exactly these kind of things.

But it's typical muppet logic as old as the internet. Just declare a statement, if you're right: "I TOLD YOU SO!!!" If you're wrong: "It's because of other reasons!!!!"

We're leading the expected goals to be conceded statistic in Laliga with just 1.09 per game. DeFeNdInG lOoKs ShAmBoLiC. What about the other 19 teams then?

edit: And the bad period with many injuries and bad pressing in early season is included in that average. I'm sure if our team stays fit for the most part of the remaining season, it'll continue to fall.

I know you analytics nerds never watxh games and prefer reading stats.

But we have eyes.
Save yo bull shit lil boy

I'd say CB, fullback and winger - Rashy won't be staying, Bernal needs to be given a chance and Eric is pretty much our DM.

Practically no budget, dealing with corruption in Spain and mess in and around Barcelona itself.

Man's a legend already.
Imagine him having young Messi as false 9 instead of Ferran or old Lewa. I think Flick would win even more than Pep to be honest.
