Real won the CL by realising La Liga level has dropped and stopped trying to 'outplay teams'.

Barca still think they can impose game on whoever play and those days are gone in CL.

Inter won it last year by barely qualifying. This defeat caused by Araujo brain-fart means nothing long term.
Flick chose Ara to start and Flick didn't start our best g/a in Rashy etc etc etc. This IS long term, Flick keeps fucking up - we should look for another coach, Flick doesn't learn and he doesn't adapt.

Not for nothing, every player in defense was better last season. What happened needs to be studied.

Is it an individual failing or systemic.

Maybe both? Because they are all well off last season form.

It's both.

Our best defender by far and the one holding it together was Inigo, and even Inigo was getting toyed by Marcus Thuram and Lautaro.

You get what you pay for I guess. A RB that was signed as CB. Two La Masia kids we're hoping becomes top players, but are struggling to show it so far and the nuclear bum as you said.

Exactly this. People build hopes on exceptions but those are called that for a simple reason.

Inigo wasn't all that either. And being best in this defense is not the achievement you think it is

Maybe I underestimate how much we would miss him, I was a fan while he was here, but I said I don't think we'll miss him that much when he left.

We really need him to organize the line it seems

Yes, but he was the best out of this group.

Kounde for example is even losing his place for the French NT. Imagine getting benched by Didier Deschamps who is infamous for playing his favorites.

Eh, no word about Torres. He was fucking abysmal. 2nd biggest flop after Araujo.

Why would you focus on Lewa when Torres actually had more duties to show up for pass. He was the one being bullied the most in the game.

Every attempt to release pressure by passing to Torres was a lost ball and Chelsea breaking 2 vs 1 vs poor Balde. Poor Balde actually had a decent game, but with that clown above him it was non stop action on his side.

We gassed out again at 20min. After that Chelsea had chance after chance(luckily offsides). When the press breaks it's very easy to get chances. We need to stop pressing so much, if we can't do it the whole half time. The other 25min is just survival.

This team isn't fit enough to play flickball from last season. That's the truth. Stop doing it.

He's too dogmatic with his approach. Needs to be more flexible with his tactics. It's obvious the players especially the defenders are not good enough to play the way he wants them to. So the best approach is to find a solution that suits them, especially in games like these.

Ferran was atrocious on the ball, Lewa was a passenger off the ball

Essentially playing a man down both in attack and defense.

As soon as both Rashford and Raphina are fit, I don't wanna see either of them in the XI
