‘You have to listen to the players and coaches. I don't think this Club World Cup is good. That's my opinion. Okay, you can make a lot of money, but it's not good for the players. We have to stop this and think about the players. You want every player to give 100 per cent, the fans want to see a spectacle. If it goes on like this, we won't be able to play at this level. The players are under a lot of pressure this season. Maybe it's also good for them to take a break. Then we'll have a very good preparation, which is good for next season.’

Oil teams can just spend and spend and spend until they gather 24 top players with each costing 30-40m at a minimum. We can't play at this schedule, the old clubs with limited funding. Qatar surely can.

Exactly. It's moneyball. Whoever has the deepest squad wins.
You need a squad where your second 11 can beat 90 percent of your league opponents. If you have that luxury, you cruise the league and concentrate on the CL.

There is also another good reason aside from fitness and money. The excitement of football in general and the fear of oversaturation.
How big is your excitement and interest going to stay if the season doesn't have a big pause, has no real ending and no real beginning?
What are titles worth, if they don't end the season and another tournament 2 weeks later awaits you? How about the season's start, that isn't after a long summer break, but chains simply another tournament?
I speak for myself here, but a big reason for excitement of football was always the schedules we're used to. Having a big summer break is as important as winning a title for me.
Everything you enjoy needs moderation if you want to keep the same level of joy. There must always be a break to reset yourself. Fifa is aiming for the opposite, they want a non-stop money printing machine.

I totally agree and it's time for the clubs to down tools or maybe form their own Super League.
