Stankovic open letter to fans:

"Dear Nerazzurri fans,

“This is your 'Drago' speaking, with a sense of emotion but also with great pleasure. I don't know if I can find the right words to say goodbye and to thank you properly for everything you have given me, your affection, your trust and your honesty.

“The last ten years have been the best of my life. I have grown both as a man and, with immense joy, as a footballer.

“My family and I want to thank the Moratti family. I'd like to mention my President in particular: he gave me the opportunity to wear the Inter shirt, which I have been happy and extremely honoured first of all to play in, and then with which I was able to win everything there was to win.

“There are so many people I have enjoyed being with and I'd like to say goodbye to each and every one of you with this letter, with these words, looking you in the eyes. I want you to know that you will always remain in my heart, even though I can't and do not want to name you all.

“I'll never forget the day I joined this club and my first press conference with our honorary president Giacinto Facchetti, a splendid person in every way. The photo I have of that day is one of my most precious memories. That was the day my life as a Nerazzurri player began.

“The thought that I won't be pulling on the Inter shirt anymore brings tears to my eyes but I've always been frank and the tears are real. Unfortunately, in life there comes a time when you have to move on and look forward. Those of you who know me know that I'll do so with great pride and determination, as I've always tried to do both as a man and a footballer.

During my time in Milan I've played alongside some wonderful footballers and above all some wonderful people. It's hard to find the words to thank them all.

“It's been an honour to wear these colours and they will always remain on my skin. I'll never remove them; nobody can ever remove them.

“With all my heart,

Dejan Stankovic.”

Moratti just said everything's been signed regarding selling the club & there will be a press conference in a few hours, I guess to make it official.

Meh.

Wasn't expecting this to happen... What will this mean for the future of the club? Abramovich style spending? Or something completely different? And why would Moratti want to sell, did they get a lot of money for that big stake in the club?

No, I don't think he's going to be a sugar daddy, he has money but I don't think we'll see crazy spending. I think more of his money will end up going to a new stadium than anything else.

I think Moratti wanted to sell because he feels he can't do the job anymore, post-treble he hasn't made the best decisions in the world so he probably thinks that selling/stepping down is what's best for Inter.

Personally, I'm extremely skeptical of Thohir though. He doesn't know the club, probably won't be around much if at all, and only has business in mind rather than any sort of passion. I know that's often what you have to do to keep up these days, but still. Plus, what I've read from fans of other sports teams he owns or has some sort of stake in, isn't all that complimentary of him.

I hope he proves me wrong.

Yes I hope you end up going to a new stadium as well. The stench of failure at the san siro has even gotten to Milan lately.

Moratti dealing with the Khadaffi regime also has hurt is business I heard, since the fall of Khadaffi his business has hurt quite much, hence him not being able to provide for the club in the way that he wanted to. We'll see what Thohir does with Inter, very curious as to how everything pans out in a couple of years...

I have no idea about that. I don't really follow much what he does/did with Saras.

Well, already the Italian papers are spewing out names of players that Thohir supposedly wants to buy. Two of the most interesting ones are Verratti & Nainggolan. Just one of those would be great to have, I don't want to see ridiculous spending though.

Verratti  (Yeah, I have a man crush on him because of the beast he was in FM  Buying him for peanuts from Pescara and then dominating world football with that little god)

Haha, I did the same :D

I feel like it would cost a lot to get him from PSG though. He'd either have to really want to go back to Italy & push a move, or Inter would have to offer him higher wages (what are his wages at PSG?) which is exactly what the club has been trying to get away from the past few years.

The decline of Inter will forever remain in my memory as the most extraordinary thing I have ever witnessed.
