Why does it matter if Cubarsi is onside when Lewa touches it? Lewa is onside, and Cubarsi is behind him. That should be a legal pass regardless?!

I dont understand how the ball can come off a player who is onside, go to a teammate BEHIND HIM and somehow the play is offsides.

The position of the passer doesn't matter. Only the position of the teammate that receives the pass matters, that position has to be:

a) behind the ball or level with it
or
b) behind or level with the 2nd last man from the opposition team.

It can happen to have an offside where the passer is in front of the pass receiver with the last part of his body. It's rare, and it's always very close, a matter of centimeters.
