We would at least have a chance at coming back, we usually play much better in the second half. Rashy and Raphinha and maybe Olmo coming on would also change the game to our advantage. But as soon as a saw Ara starting I was almost sure he would get a red card in the first half, well...Before the red card our problem was the midfield. Frenkie end eric gave the ball to balde and wanted him to resolve every pressing situation with a dribble against 2. Our defense (the last four players) was actually good, apart from the own goal. The problem here, too, was that the midfield and attack didn't defend well. I am sure we would come back if we hadn‘t get this stupid red card. When raphinha came on you saw that he will lead the pressing the next games and pedri will also change a lot.
I'm not a success fan and I stand by Barca even after bad games.
fake culer
That first yellow was ridiculous though. You make a rule that only the captain can communicate to the referee, and then when he does, you give him a yellow. It's inane.
That second yellow though, so stupid so early in the game. But then it's Araujo, the gift that keeps on giving.
We had the same scenario of getting a gift from the opposition in the PSG game. Only difference then was that Rashford finished his meal unlike Ferran. Guess what happened in the end? They beat us easily. If Ferran scored that sitter at 0:0, the match could have gone different way. Chelsea played really well and deserved to win, the tactical setup from Maresca was spot on. I think we didn't expect they would press us higher up the pitch and that caused us a lot of problem. We're used to dominate possession and play against teams with low block but this match was totally different.
I'm not worried about our future. We're 1 point behind Real on the La Liga table and we theoreticall still have a chance to finish top 8 in CL league table. We should win all remaining matches in the CL (Frankfurt, Slavia, Copenhagen), so I expect 9/9 points out of these matches. We currently have 7 points and if we win the remaining 3 matches, we'll have 16 points, which might be enough for a top 8 finish.
The importance of having huge funds can't be understated. Yes, probably Enzo doesn't worth 120m. But he is worth 70. So you pay extra 40m and get it done. Caicedo the same, Cucurella the same.
This is just like moaning about rich people buying great goods at super-high prices. Yes, the price is high. But even if the quality doesn't match the price, it is way over quality you hope to get at low prices. If you can afford the price, the quality will make the difference. And if the price is not a huge problem, then this combination will create, in the end, a good enough outcome.
That's the equation of the rich teams, and it works. A good manager, big funds, sure it will not lead to some era defining output without an elite academy, if you're a smaller local club like Chelsea, but it will produce football-wise in the long run.
Resources definitely matter, that's just like.
Arsenal didn't stop spending and now they finally have a team that can potentially win the CL.
Barcelona can't do that with our structure even at our best, especially now with the la Liga rules.
We have to pick and choose years of high investment then go through 2-3 of minimal to balance things out
