What you realize watching the stadium from above is, how far away the third stand is going to be from the pitch. The former third stand hung above the second stand by quite a bit, but because of the two new VIP rings, they had to build it more to the back and that means, people in the very top rows will sit now even further from the pitch and either need a very good eyesight or binoculars most likely.

And the VIP seats themselves are also not ideally placed, because Barca had to keep the old structure of the first two stands. They're above them and further away as the second stand. Meaning most of the stadium will have better seats than the VIPs

Not ideal, but these compromises had to be made because there was no money to rebuild the Camp Nou from scratch.

Should have let chinks build it but it's probably harder to hide and syphon money out and Turks are good on bribes and corruption:laporta3:

Yeah, that's how the huge capacity is reached for Camp Nou. Very wide and open stadium.

Don't think the top rows are farther back than before though. The 3rd stand is much smaller than the previous one as far as I can tell, almost half of the previous one.

Just a quick math, according to the sources, the double VIP ring will add 9400 premium seats. If the final work will have 104k seats, this means the rest of the 3 tiers will have 94k fans. Lower than 99k before.

So the new 3rd stand will actually be smaller than the previous one, but more even, as it goes around the entire stadium, as opposed to almost non existant on one side, and huge on the other, like in the picture.

Think the third ring visibility will be a bit better than before. That's my take on it. Height will be the same as before on the highest point or just a tad higher, with a lower 3rd row, but added hight due to new double VIP ring plus roof.

I understand the concessions and compromises. This is not a stadium built by some billionaire from US or Middle East, it's built using a credit loan.

Never heared that expession before for them.

In any case, Limak was the only construction company ready to accept Barcelona's demands in having a maximum price for the construction. No other company was willing to guarantee it, because constructions end up being much more expensive than assumed. Barca had a fixed loan and couldn't go beyond of the price, so Limak was the only one willing to accept, because they are making a name for themselves in Europe and building the Camp Nou is the fastest way to open the market for their company.

The new Bernabeau ended up costing for Madrid 1,7 b Euros. In 2019, the innitial cost were estimated to be around 500m.

Btw, just checked other newly built stadium, and it appears that large space from front row to the actual pitch is getting larger in the new projects when space is available.

Here is Metropolitano, and it is big as well.

Porque told the reason already. For double advertising LED banners. And the downside is not a big issue for the fans, to sit 3 meters further back.

Doubt that is the reason. Saw double LED baners advertisement in EPL also and the distance is not as big. It's probably related to the curvature of the stadiums. Camp Nou is not square-ish, neither is Metropolitano.

Yeah this doesn't sound good at all. Quite disappointing.
