Madrid had way less work with their renovation. All they did was dig a hole to hide their pitch, build a roof and hang the cheap plastic cover around the stadium so it appears new.

Full completion was due in summer 2026 and I don't think I've heard a delay on this.

I'm guessing a minority of the work force are working to get the infrastructure ready for half capacity and the rest are working normally towards the 2026 deadline. Could be the reason why it's hard to force this partial completion without jeopardizing the full completion and why we get delays these weeks/months.

I read some reports that the club plans to start opening CN with 30 000 and later 45 000 before we go full 60 000. The report says there is no chance that the whole full two rings will be finished before the CL matches.

I don't think that is possible, I remember some other reports that said that the whole full two rings have to be finished before you get the permit. So it's either 60 000 or no permit.

Well, we'll just blame Barto. and City Council...

Nearly no chance for that. This was the original timeline, no construction goes without delays. Even when the stadium opens, they need to finish both VIP rings, the entire third stand, third cat-walk and the roof. Not forgetting all the diamond buildings surrounding the stadium. Also hundreds of stairs, dozens of elevators, electricity, painting, plumbing, safety measures like against fire hazard, outside covers for all 3 floors, new stores and and and. There is still a ton of work to do. Winter 26 would be good, could extend to summer 27.

In the end, for 25/26 season we should have adopted a road warriors gimmick where we travel around the world taking on home game opponents anytime, anywhere, any place.
