Barça are considering holding their first La Liga home game against Valencia at Estadi Johan Cruyff (6,000 capacity) if the required permits for Spotify Camp Nou aren’t ready in time. Montjuïc is not an option as it will be hosting a Post Malone concert that week. [@totcosta]

Progress looks good, final portion of pitch to be completed today

Outer ring structure is advanced and clearing paths for the 7 access points well underway

Feels close

Now Achraf Ben Ayad says Valencia match in mid September is seriously in doubt at Camp Nou

After testing the temporary pitch's drainage and irrigation systems, the final pitch was finally laid. On this photo, you also see how the animation curve will be seperated with a glass wall from the other fans. I don't know if I like it. First of all the animation section looks too small and secondly, the experience behind the glass won't be very good I think.

Makes sense. Keep the actual singing fans as small as possible and away from tourists.

How much bigger can they make it though? Don't think the glass will have any effect either.

I'm sure if we fill that whole section it will be good enough. Besides, the lowest seats in second tier also contains singing fans usually.

The singing section will be below the glass. I would have prefered the entire first stand in the curve. Or at least 2/3 of it. But now we have around 1/4th-1/3rd of the first stand in gol sur.
Wouldn't surprise me, if it was a monetary driven decision, as the singing section tickets are not in the public sale and cheaper, so the club made them as small as possible.

Also important to make size realistic so that the area gets filled most times. A too big of a section will just look empty.

If the club really wanted, it could probably copy Dortmund and make the entire curve with the first, second and third stand as a complete singing section. There are enough fanclubs and penyas in Barcelona who would love getting cheaper seasonal tickets in return for singing and waving flags during matches. Look how many fans always gather to sing and party and wave flags on the streets, or even to greet the bus before important games.
This has to be a monetary and political decision in my opinion.

Could be. Need to maximize income to pay for the stadium

What's the point of spending billions to make a new stadium, if you are going to make it quieter and soulless, just to save a few thousands. ( Much like the EPL clubs ).

Should have just stuck with the old Camp Nou where at least the whole lower tier of Gol Nord was dedicated to fans groups.

I guess the only games we will get adequate support will be neutral cup finals then, as usual.

What a waste.
