FROM topic "Fermin Lopez"

No one in their right mind would want to sell him.

If we need a day, there are other assets that can be sold for good money:

1. Ter Stegen
2. Araujo
3. De Jong (we have Cassado and Bernal)
4. Christensen

Less liquid assets:

1. Peña
2. Torre
3. Pau Victor

Potentially this is about 180 million euros.
By adding about 30 million we can use it to buy Garcia (25 million euros), an elite CB-Saliba (please) and Alvarez (please)

This will be the perfect transfer window for me.

Alvarez:
In our favor:
Alvarez is a Barcelona fan, plus, obviously, he would want to play for a more attacking club.

Not in our favor:
Simeone will hold on to him tightly. Also, he has many Argentine friends in the attacking midfield position.

Regarding the price — they got him for 75 million + bonuses, I wouldn’t rule out a transfer for 80-90 million euros, and I wouldn’t be against that.

Saliba:
In our favor:
Arsenal has been trophyless for a long time, although they have reached a new level. Weather, city.

Not in our favor:
Arsenal wants to keep him. Plus, Real Madrid is very much waiting for him. He might be a Madrid fan and want to go there himself. The price will be at least 70 million euros this summer. It would be higher if not for the contract ending in 2026.

If we go by rumors it would be Fermin out and Cherki in for a fraction of the few.

Won't happen. But smart financial move.

Cherki are absolute crap without the ball. After the first game Flick (given his game concept) will put him on the bench.

It's a fair shout.

Is he worse than Olmo off the ball though? That's my main gripe on Olmo starting over Fermin. One is way better in possession, the other is way better off the ball (not to mention match fit).

If only we could merge the two.

There are rumours out there suggesting that? Not just some guy daydreaming he’s Deco?

Are the two not just the same thing?

Deco daydreaming he is Deco, only to awake and realise that he is actually Deco, might be a thing too.

The platform matters. I daydream 13 rumours a day but I don't have a twitter account so nobody takes it seriously.

Oh that's a thing. I hear he daydreams he's Barca's sporting director and actually had budget to sign someone.

Why do you think Atletico who forced us to pay Griezmann's entire buyout clause in cash would sell Alvarez to us for that price?

They won't sell him for less than 150m.

Of course, man.

Football is not just how great a player is with the ball. Cherki scores a goal and plays well against a Pedri subbed off Spain and people think he is the best AM prospect. He had his shot with France in the Olympics with an amazing team and he got spanked by Spain. They were playing the Olympics in France too.

You do not sell Fermin for many reasons. This isn't FIFA. He works hard he has built in loyalty. He reps La Masia. What kind of knock on effect does selling Fermin have after how he finished the season. Every La Masia player is going to have their faith lessened. Bad for the locker room. Bad for the youth. Hell bad for Barca since Cherki is your classic offense only type player.

I believe in this transfer for 85-90 million euros, IF Alvarez is active.

Only this way. Only Alvarez can make this transfer real.

This is a common phenomenon among football fans. They don't pay any attention to what attacking players do without the ball. But:

It is statistically proven that players actually have the ball for three minutes on average. So, the most important thing is: what do you do during those 87 minutes when you do not have the ball? That is what determines whether you're a good player or not. (c) Johan Cruyff.
