From what I've read, he is earning over 10M gross in Bilbao, and his wage demands from other clubs are around 15-18M which so far no one is willing to pay.

Bilbao are doing well on sporting level too, arguably theor best spell in this century.

He is staying close to family and getting paid handsomely. Bilbao is making the decision much easier to him tbh.

I see great potential in this Varela. I think the guy should be taken to the first team now. There is no hope for Barca B that they will give us a good left winger in the near future. Sorry, Dani Rodriguez's basic skills are very, very average.

There is a legal shenanigans around the Varela transfer, they won't bring him before he is 18

We badly lack in big talents outside of La Masia or Spanish football in general. Time to land 1-2 top ones. No more old or very old players on big contracts. We did the Lewa deal because we were in a really bad spot at the time, but now it's a different situation. And it's Lewandowski. With the age of likes of Lewa, Modric and some others... the older players will not be big names.
