Maybe we could get him for depth if he's cheap. Who knows though, maybe he really is good enough to start for Barca. In which case we'd be saving quite a bit of cash if we got him.

Can't say that I have watched him many times this season but my impression has always been that of a solid defender and a good all-round player but not "FCB quality" as such right now at least. He is reasonably quick and he has a very strong physical presence in the central defense. What I am unsure about is whether he is mentally strong enough to be long-term replacement for Puyol and his technical abilities in the context of the level required at FCB. Also whether or not there would be better options out there.

In my opinion we need to buy a world class defender in the mould of Kompany, Hummels etc. But if the staff want a cheaper although fairly reliable and young defender then Aymen Abdennour could be a good option - since he would be relatively cheap compared to other options.

Difficult to predict though.

Solid defender, really strong, fast (at least faster than our CBs). Weaknesses? I would say he isn't mentally strong enough to play for Barca, like mentioned before by other members.

Sorta like Alba, he's a converted left winger which would explain his offensive skills & tendencies but he hasn't played long enough as a central defender, for me

According to a report from French newspaper L'Equipe, the Blaugrana are holding talks with AS Monaco defender, Aymen Abdennour. The Tunisian center-back is the leader of his team's defense, and he has been linked with a move to a bigger club since last season.

His agent is desperately trying to get him to join the Catalan giants, and he might have gotten a shot at it. The outlet reports that the two have made a trip to Barcelona to meet with Ariedo Braida and other club officials. They are trying to work out a transfer deal in which Abdennour would stay at Monaco for the rest of 2015. Once the transfer ban is over, the 25-year-old would officially move to Barça and be part of the first team.
